Budget PC recommendation

Greetings!

Would like to make a low powered and low requirement rig to play a very old game named pristontale. i dont know anyone who know about it.

Recommended Specifications:
OS: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
CPU:1.5 GHz Pentium 4 or equivalent
RAM: 512 MB
HDD: 1 GB Free Space
Graphics Card: Any 64 MB VGA Card

No os/monitor needed. Budget as low as possible/ great combination/ readily avaliable in market. Might want change to SSD in future and please do recommend which brand to get.

TS, you are building this rig because the game doesn't run on Win7? If so, get the Professional version of Windows 7 and use the XP mode.

Hi all, i'm also looking around for super budget DIY PC.
I'm actually helping my friend to 'donate' this PC to some poor
family who just need it for schoolwork for the children.
Her budget is $250 (cos she's paying for it from her own pocket).
We got monitor and keyboard+mouse donated, so just need the CPU itself.

Possible to get any combination cheaper than this recommendation above?

IMO, the above mentioned PSU should be those cheapo psu which is not very reliable.

For internet access, you will need a wifi adapter to connect to the wireless. A cheap one, TP Link WN722N costs $26.

As for OS, you can use your method to install but i don't think the shop will do it for you.

You can always install free OSes such as Ubuntu. Its user friendly, robust and capable of everything a windows pc can do.

Try to bargain the assembly fee till cheaper or free. Even if free alr still can bargain somemore. Ask nicely ba

i bargain till there fix for me for free chandra is a good guy.always ask discount from boss for me
for dvd rom . i got the samsung one. u might want check whether if there is any cheaper one

Have not purchase the rig yet, as i was told that new chipset is coming out. Any difference in cost/performance if i wait for haswell?

Based on current information, small performance improvement, ~10% for real world usage of existing software.

Plus, widespread Haswell availability is not going to be expected immediately after launch. Plus, the new motherboard chipset (not the CPU) has a minor bug of losing connection to USB3 devices when waking up from sleep. This is fixed in the new C2 revision.

okay thank you for your information. ill be purchasing this coming weekend.
like to check with you the current computer im using now is using a 120gb ssd and 140 gb hdd. is it possible to install windows directly from my current computer into the 140gb hdd and slot into the new coming pc without having to buy the dvd drive.

When installing the OS, it will install with drivers and setting for the motherboard that it is plugged into. Temporarily pull out a dvd drive from another system for installing the OS. Note that you can also install Windows 7 (not sure about XP) using a thumb drive on modern PCs that support booting (which is practically all mobos on the market) via the USB drive. Alternatively, use a USB dvd drive.
