Hello, I'm intending to build a budget (~$500-600) PC for my young cousin. Usage will be for school work and light gaming. Would be best if i can fit a copy of Windows 10 and microsoft office within the budget. Hope to get some recommendations Thanks!

At that budget might actually be better to buy a prebuilt desktop....but ok if you really want DIY

I really recommend upping the budget to 700 or 800 and get the i3 instead, much much better value

Increasing my budget to $700-800 shouldn't be a problem but is it possible to change the build to a ITX one for a smaller form factor? Or is this not recommended?

For ITX you can get MSI H110i motherboard. And change your case to cooler master 110 or silverstone sg13

Hmmm if you want to teach a kid rig building, I won't really suggest ITX ba... ITX is smaller and poses more challenges when it comes to space constraints and hardware layout

I would go with mATX instead if I were to teach someone how to build a rig, let him understand how parts typically go together before going into a more atypical mITX build

mATX is not too big and also allows for a somewhat typical installation without the increased complexity of an ITX build

I taught my friends rig building in mATX and ATX cases lol

+1 to this as well. for a kid to build itx is a big hurdle for him to take. best go with a matx to let him learn.

unless u are guiding him i guess itx shouldn't be a problem.

When you teach ITX, best that you teach someone that has done basic and proper cable management and routing.

It is possible that you have to unmount/mount components in a certain sequence just to get everything to fit especially when selecting a smaller case. So for starters probably mATX will be a better choice.

Ya the challenge with mITX is with unconventional mounting options and cable routing, ensuring everything has space to breathe and also ensuring everything fits nicely

mITX casing also restricts what you buy also

Then again, I do like the aesthetics of some mITX casings (especially the Node 202) but it would be safer to approach from mATX at the least
