Hi all, I need to build a rig for my friend for casual gaming. His main purpose is to play NBA 2K14. He told me that his sandybridge celeron in his hometown is able to play it smoothly without GPU, judging from the specs he sent me but I think it might have left out the GPU. If that is so, then a haswell pentium should even be better?

He might want to play COD ghost in future, but is willing to add a gpu later on for it. The question is, will the pentium be unable to run cod ghost even with a dedicated gpu? If so please recommend me a cpu that can run COD ghost. His budget is about $700 (no OS, need kb mouse and monitor).

Thanks $face, I know can always count on you. Need monitor, kb and mouse though. if remove gpu can run NBA 2k14? I think can swap the SSD to a 1tb hdd.

List down the complete system specs that your friend is using.

There may be still some Ivy Bridge CPUs left in SLS and a CPU upgrade may more economical than just getting a completely new rig.

His PC is not in SG.
So, would your friend be using this rig back in his hometown? How are you going to bring the assembled rig to him?

Also, at least list down the specs that your friend has sent you.

He's working here, so he wants a rig to play in sg. I took a glimpse of the specs, i don't have it with me now, but its something like a sandybridge celeron, h61 mobo, 4 gb ram, no dedicated gpu. Soryy for the confusion.

OK, then just follow MoneyFace's build then.
