If this is for gaming,

CPU+MB: Intel Core i3-4150 + ASRock H81M-HDS R2.0 @ $209
RAM: Crucial DDR3-1600 CL11 8GB @ $60
GPU: Zotac GTX 760 2GB @ $248
Expect medium-high quality settings with smooth playable frame rates on AAA games.
No longer the crappy gaming experience ever.
Warranty is 2+3 years.
Additional 3 years warranty to be registered with Zotac/Tech-Dynamic.

HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB @ $69
ODD: Samsung 24X CD/DVD Writer [OEM] @ $21
PSU: FSP Aurum S 500W [80 Plus Gold] @ $89
CASE: Xigmatek Recon @ $45
WIFI: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth for Desktop [PCIe] @ $79 (Laser Distributor)
Backed by Intel's wireless stability and speed.
DSP: Dell S2340L 23" 1080p 60Hz W-LED [eIPS] @ $199

Total: $1019

Buy others from Tradepac, #05-18. Haggle for discounts.

Hmm.. if that is the case...

IMHO, if you just want something that is portable, no need for gaming, just purely surf internet etc - go for the laptop...

There's a SG50 Grand Expo held at Singapore EXPO Hall 5B from 7th Aug to 10 Aug 2015:

Looking at the brochure and your budget, maybe you can go for:

i) Asus Notebook K455LB-WX013H - SGD$1098

If you want something that stays in the house, not bringing out, gaming - go for DIY at Sim Lim Square - you can use moneyface bro's recommendations as a reference....

Good luck~!

Go down tomorrow/day after late morning to avoid possible afternoon crowd.

Buy the WiFi card from Laser then bring down to Tradepac to get all other items and get them assembled. Shouldn't take long if you go down early.
