Hi HWZ I'm completely new to the idea of building PC's. I finally have gotten around to trying to switch from my shitty laptop (its i3 processor but idk why it has low framerates in wow and sc2, fine in dota2) to a budget pc under SGD $500.

Can i get some comments on the set systems that i have picked out from a singaporean diy PC shop? (Fuwell)

ASUS D.I.Y System 1
Asus H81M-K + Intel G3240 3.1GHz $147
Kingston PC3 12800/1600 4GB DDR3 CL11 $52
Integated Intel HD Graphics Seagate 500GB SATA3 Harddisk $67
Samsung 24X DvD-Writer SATA $24
Vios Micro ATX Case w/500W PSU $55
MS Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) OEM $130
[Total $475]

basically i want to be able to play dota2, sc2 & wow (30-60 fps at 20 man raids in medium settings) would this setting be able to do it? and if not what can i switch in/out to help? unfortunately i have to keep to the $500 budget. would like to attach the 3 major diy shops in singapore's pricelist for y'all
but cant cuz of my post count sorry

PS:I also have a huge monitor in the living room but we don't watch television anymore, so is it possible to use that as a monitor for my desktop? Also thinking of adding a few more dollars to get an i3 processor but will that be worth it? in terms of gaming speed.
sorry for the noob questions haha

Basically you do not have a good graphics card on your laptop. CPU isn't everything. You can have up to Core i7 but you are not going to game well as long as your graphics card is sh!tty. That preconfigured build isn't going to score any better as you are still going to rely on Intel's integrated graphics, which is just on par with the one in your laptop.

What's your TV brand and model? Most modern era TV can act as monitor as long as there are compatible display connectors like VGA & HDMI, but you have to set it to PC mode as input lag WILL BE very high, causing detrimental lag effect on gaming, especially FPS.

2nd hand Full PC with OS for $500 will be rather more ideal given tight budget. You can have much better gaming performance at the expense of older parts and shorter warranty period.

Consider this that includes a discrete graphics card fairly adequate for your low demand games:

CPU+MB: Intel Celeron G1610 + ASRock B75M-DGS @ $117
RAM: Crucial DDR3-1600 CL11 4GB @ $42
GPU: PowerColor HD 7730 2GB [DDR3] @ $85
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB @ $70
ODD: Samsung 24X CD/DVD Writer [OEM] @ $21
PSU: FSP300-50HMN 300W OEM @ $30
CASE: Generic ATX Chassis @ $25
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit [OEM] @ $110

Total: $500

Buy and Build at Tradepac, #05-18.
