hi all, wanna build a budget system for my parents.
Their main use is to watch youtube and play facebook games.

Budget = $400

These are the parts i came up with:

CPU + Mobo: Biostar H81MHV3/ASROCK H81M-DGS + Pentium G3220 - $119/$136
RAM: KINGSTON PC3-1600 DDR3 4GB - $53
SSD: Plextor M6S 256GB - $184
PSU: FSP 300W OEM - $39
ODD: reuse
Casing: reuse
Wifi: reuse
ODD: reuse

Total = $395/$412

anything i should swap out?

If your monitor or tv got hdmi input & only interested with youtube and facebook and any andriod function. just get a android tv box. MINIX NEO X8 - MINIX running a andriod is low in bill and on 24/7. The coming comex should be selling for $100-$200 for these type of Quad-Core with 2GB DDR3 android box.

Don't buy the airmouse, just get a normal wireless mouse and keyboard.

If you need to do some work, a desktop is still better.

I suppose your system budget don't include OS? Anyway if it's just for youtube and FB games, why do you need a SSD? A HDD is much cheaper and can store a lot more. You can save at least $100 by doing that.

Just downsize the M6S to a 128GB version for $99. Your parents may not need that much storage space, but they will definitely appreciate the much faster boot up and program loading which results in a much responsive system.

In this era. Putting in a ssd into a PC is still a better option than not putting in. Despite if it is just for websurfing or YouTube etc.

A more responsive os is better than a sluggish os which can be very frustrating for parents to.

I would prefer a ssd for them for bootup time and they dont need so much storage space as well.
