Hi guys! as per title (future-proof LOL:s13:), im trying to build a micro ATX pc rig,

I have the following things in mind:
-i7-6700k
-Asus z170M-Plus
-Cosair Arbide Series Quiet 400Q Compact Mid Tower Case
-Palit GTX750 Ti (Currently using)
-unknown PSU
-G.skill Tridentz 16GB 3200Mhz
-unknown cooling system
-SSD + HDD (Currently using)

I wish to purchase some parts like RAM from other source, example... newegg, Amazon.UK, etc. as they seems to be very cheap compare to SLS (Fu......, etc...). Any1 have experience with those?

Budget wise, as long as cheap and good can liao :D

Other then that, please ignore the GPU as i am waiting for the new Pascal. Please comment on my build and recommand me a good PSU/any other things.

Thanks!

I ordered my ram and CPU cooler from amazon. >125 USD free shipping.

One week arrived liao.

So far so good, I think the cost saving worth the risk :)

wow, thank you every1 for your reply. But i not sure why, i can feel abit of 'heat' from every1 or maybe im just abit sensitive haha o_O

Maybe i should apologise for the word i use.

The pc i using currently has average spec but at least it serve me for at least 4yrs+.

Feeling abit rich, i wish to build a higher end PC this time round but has lost touch with the computer world. Trying to research with current new technoloy, but there is way tons of information (brands, spec, comments...) for me to absorb, probably cos im getting older haha.

As mention above, with a expectation of 4yrs+ durability/comparability from my current-going-to-uplorry PC, i wish to rise my expectation or bar abit higher. Maybe not that much, but i expect at least 3-4yrs.

So...back to topic, please feel free to comment/recommend on the stuff i listed, especially the PSU and water cooling.

thanks.

The community here generally accepts that there is no real future proofing. What's relevant today will be outdated next year. Yes the performance difference may not be as large but no one will go on a limb and tell you the "right way".

But to answer your question, the longer lasting parts are generally the PSU RAM and SSD. Ignore water cooling. My CPU has lasted me 4 years now. So I reckon skylake should go that distance too. The only parts I replaced was my GPU and I added an external sound card/dac and new speakers and a new monitor.

You can save some money by going for a 6600K or a 6700 instead. Pretty sure these 2 can easily last u for a few yrs.

6600k ba. its overclock capable but you need a z170 board for it. And all you have to do is improve you cooling system in future to OC it.

I got consider 6600k and 6700, but i just feel like spending abit more on processor haha.
I oso need the extra power from 6700k for rendering on Maya (I might be wrong here).
