Building a mid tier gaming rig

Hi everyone, I know there are many posts like this already but i really appreciate your helps.

I am building a new gaming rig and my budget is $2000 sgd. I need OS (win 7) and monitor. Gaming at 1080p...not going to SLI/Crossfire. Prefers Asus mobo/gpu as i have been using them since i started using DIY rigs.

Thank you very much for your advice. Ill appreciate if there are prices/shop recommendation for each parts.

Asus is quite premium pricing. Recommend you to get others as their low end and mid end boards arent that nice anymore. And paying so much. Their high end boards are worth a look.

I didnt know Asus is so much more expensive compared to other brands.

is it possible to push the cost higher to fit my 2k budget..so that i can avoid upgrading so soon? i can even go up to 2.2k if it can sustain me for another 2-3 years.

I think i can go without Asus...MSI and leadtek are just fine for me too . Thank you so much for the time and effort bros.

Hmmm. For 2.2k if you want to maximise it. Can get the MSI gtx780 twin frozr + seasonic m12ii 750w $1018 bundle at tradepac.

For that it will come up to $2194

Good thru the next 5 years.

Just take noted tradepac not very good at assembly, best is you hoot the pieces from them and assemble your own.

Plus they would charge 30 dollar assembly fee.*
(If i am IRAS this is the first shop i will be targeting.)

Plus, i have given up on the idea of PC lasting more than 3 years now days. Motherboard sure give you problem after 2 years, but not enough to do a RMA. (Esp relating to RAM Slots). By the 3 years mark your Motherboard will give you more persistent problem. Like unable to boot, have to keep re seat your RAM and Graphic card and so on.

So by the end of the 3rd year, be prepared to change motherboard, cause it's a waste to throw out that perfectly good CPU.

Gaming GPU also dun last more than 3 years if u are gaming everyday. Mine lasted 4 years as i played less stressful games on my GPU, like the Dota.

If assembly has problem..most likely it will not last. I remember i once owned a 3k rig..and the shop did a bad assembly of my cpu cooler. the rig always gave me overheating issues.

If you want cheap you gotta learn to build your own and buy from tradepac.

If you want good service and willing to pay more and we are talking about $80-100 more if you wanna build at PC themes.

Watch linustechtips n newegg on how to build... very gd step by step... if dat dunnoe, den gt nth to sae...

Spending more does not mean it can sustain longer. In fact, get what you need and do a constant upgrade along the way. This is a much better way to future-proof your rig rather than just throwing few thousands dollars straight and hoping the money spent will last you for many years to come.

I think you make up your decision 1st... If you are planning to SLI in future, get the Z87 board with around 750-850w psu. If you are not gonna SLI at all in future, get the B85 board with gtx 770 and 650w psu...

What I suggest is you can read up more before your purchase. B85 H87 and Z87 chipsets. Find out what really you need. And what is the difference before understanding what you have purchase.

Although at the end of the day the money is still yours. But some people always think that pay more means good and lasting. Well it isn't really true. Up to a certain extent only, also base on luck.

PCThemes, $10 assembly fee.
MyNextCom, can bargain from web prices or order online. Free delivery but not sure how much they charge for assembly, or if they even do assembly at all.

Its always open at one corner of sls. You must open eyes and see very carefully.
