Hi everyone. Its time for me to upgrade my computer. I will be reusing back my monitor, speakers, KB and mouse. Purpose is for gaming. What do you think of the config.

i5 4670K + MSI Z87 G45 $543
2 x 8GB Crucial Ballistic 1866 $239
Samsung 840 Pro 512GB $745 (prefer this over the Evo due to performance)
2 x Sapphire 290 TriX 4GB $1240
Seasonic X Series 850W Gold $239
Corsair Carbide 330R $129
Corsair H100i AIO Cooler $189

Total: $3324

Btw, I have one question. I want to reuse my old 19" LCD (1280 x 1024) as a secondary monitor. My primary monitor is 1920 x 1080. Will there be any issues with 2 monitors of different resolution in desktop mode?

Another question is about 290x. Is 290x more "future proof" compared to 290? Cause the price do not differ that much. So I wonder if I should go for 290x instead.

Lastly, I also read about higher resolution monitors (those 1440p screens). Its higher resolution but will do you think its worth changing? Any significant difference compared to 1080p screens? Cause I am like wondering there is a 27" 1440p panel but its just 3" bigger than my 24". However, I am afraid text in desktop will appear too small.

Get the evo. Pro vs Evo no difference in real world applications. You can overclock 290 to match 290x performance. 290x is just a 290 thats factory overclocked leaving not much headroom left for overclocking. Also, i see no reason why you would need 2x 290 if not doing 1440p gaming.

And don't get disillusioned by the number-crunching figures:

So please swop the SSD for a Crucial M500 960GB at no extra cost

And please try to show off your babies inside with a chassis with window :vijayadmin:

Once you go 1440p you wont wanna go back 1080p. Its so dense and fine.

If this rig is gonna be just a gaming rig then an 8gb ram is enough.

With that money go with this setup. Red and Black Theme.

MSI Z87G45 Gaming + i5-4670k ~ $499
Gskills Ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb kit red ~ $110
WD Blue 1tb ~ $76
Samsung Evo 250gb Amazon Set ~ approx $188SGD
MSI R9 290 4gb Twin Frozr xFire ~ $1367 with 2 BF4 (one can keep the other can sell to offset)
Corsair RM850 850w 80+ Gold ~ $199
Corsair Obsidian 750D Full Tower Chassis ~ $220
Corsair H100i AIO cooler ~ $150
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 8.1 OEM ~ $125
Qnix Evolution ii QX2710 27inch PLS Panel ~ $339 (Qoo10)

Total ~ $3294. Buy at tradepac. DIY
