Hi guys, I've been thinking about building a new rig for awhile now, but never really got into it.
But recently, I've been trying to record some videos (for games) and realised that my CPU is just not up to par anymore.
I have already came out with my own list but its been awhile since I've bought any IT stuff.
Can I get some advice in building up a new rig and future proof it for about 4-5 years.
Usage would be video recording (monitor/game/window capture), video editing, streaming. Playing of AAA games (wont be changing my GTX 670 yet)
My current rig is stated >>>>>>
I really need help in choosing the casing, mobo and psu.
I have done some research and chose some, but please do recommend me better/cheaper ones if there is.
My budget is <$1300. Excluding all external stuff
(The cheaper the better!!)
Prices are taken from PCthemes list unless otherwise stated
CPU : i5-6600k
Mobo: ASUS Z170-PRO GAMING (MOBO + CPU) - $642
RAM : DDR4 RAM Crucial 16GB 2133 MT/s - $139 @vrzone market
GFX : Nil
SSD : ZOTAC 240GB 2.5" Premium SSD - $109 @Lazada
HDD : Nil
ODD : ASUS 24X DVD-RW - $25
PSU : Seasonic G Series 650W Modular - $169
Case: Cooler Master CM 690 III - $139 @videopro.com.sg OR
Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 Window - $129 OR
Fractal Design ARC MIDI TOWER Casing - $139
OS : Windows 7/8.1/10 (Reddit) - $30
Total - $1253
My choice of casing would be a mid tower, with easily removable dust filters on bottom and front. Hopefully light too. (Computer would be placed on the floor). Also might be changing cooler to H100i in the future. Need help deciding between the cases, or please do recommend me one.
Choice of mobo would be one that can do overclocking, have good on-board audio.
As for PSU, not sure if I should get a 650W or 550W.. I feel that 650W would be better if I plan to add more stuff next time? Do correct me if I'm wrong.
I have a weird habit of putting lots of HDD in my desktop (currently 5 HDD in mine)
Graphics card is currently a GTX 670 (Upgrading to GTX 970 next time)
Might even go for GTX 970 SLi or GTX 980ti or any future cards
Thank you!~
