Building a new rig

Hey guys, after looking at the stickied thread, I've decided to build something like this.

This PC will be used for gaming at the highest settings, some video editing and I intend to keep this build as is without upgrading any components for the next 4-5 years.

Total Cost = $2,600

Some questions I would like to ask:

1. Is the power supply enough?
2. Should I throw in a SSD too?
3. Should I just buy 4x8GB ram?
4. Where should I go to get the best price? Alternatively, should I PM Fortran to build this machine for me?
5. Are there any other suggestions to help me spend my money more wisely?

Are you planning to overclock? If you do, you are missing out on a third part cpu cooler (preferably an AIO cooler). If you don't, you may consider dropping the K processor and Z mobo.

1) More than enough.
2) With that kind of budget, at least a 240GB ssd.
3) If your video editing is pretty intensive, more rams may help.
4) IMO, Tradepac offers the best price if you are willing to bargain.
5) Depending on your gaming resolution (1080p or 1440p), whether you intend to overclock and how intensive are your video editing.

What if I don't intend to overclock my system at all, what should I be change my initial choices to?

Trying to lower the cost so I can spend it elsewhere. Haha

I assume u will be gaming on 1080p 24" monitor ? Then a gtx780 will suit u nicely, upgrade every 2 years to next gen gfx if u feel u need to.

With that budget in mind, we can safely assume he is going to game on 1080p or higher.

for that budget getting ssd will be good much faster loading times than hdd, and get a superflower or seasonic power supply instead they use more japanese caps for your intended purpose to last longer

Impossible to run every game on max even with 780ti

Just look at the best card 3 years ago, can it run bf4 or crysis 3 on max settings ? I doubt so...

For gtx780 get the Gigabyte gtx780 ghz edition. It's factory overclocked and performs quite close to gtx780 ti

290x will be a better choice ba... btw:

Even if you wanna have the pc to last for 4 years, even the 780ti also wont last that long.

780ti or the r9 290x is not much difference in gaming performance as compared to the r9 290 and gtx 780.

The price differs of $2XX and $3XX respectively for the marginal performance.

So for what i think is just get either the r9 290 or the 780 will do.
