building a PC for photo editing

intend to get a pc for photo editing only. ideally I7 minimum. budget around 3-4k. please advise. not overclocking

im thinking of the following;

I7 7700 + MSI H270 pro carbon - $780
palit GTX 1070 dual twin fan - $588
seasonic M1211 modular 750w - $145
kingston 2133mhz 16gb *4 - $648
samsung 850 evo m2 1tb - $529
WD 3TB black - $248
win 10 home 64bit - $158
asus 24x dvdrw - $25

is 64GB ram overkill?
do i need a good gfx for editing?
Do i need a cpu cooler?

I built mine last year for PS & LR.
Ram wise I am using 32GB.

win 10 home 64bit - $158 (this you can get it cheaper from Carousell)
FYI, when I first install PS & LR it was very laggy.
After I goggle a bit, I have to disable my GPU in the setting to enable PS & LR to run smoothly.

You should probably look at the software that you intend to use. I understand some software can configure scratch disk.

If myself, I will probably (depending on cost), put the OS, swap file, scratch disk and files on separate SSDs. The SSDs need not necessary be high capacity.

You dont need a 1070 to render photos, cuda cores are good but I think that its overkill (people who are more knowledgable please advise on this)

Get the rams from amazon for about 300 sgd (32 should be good enough).

A 550w psu would do, I would reccomend the superflower gold @139

You dont need a cpu cooler, the stock heatsink should be good enough.

Since you have the budget, you can consider using a xenon set up.

You can consider taking a risk and using carosell to get windows for cheap.

No comments on the storage choices.

64gb ram depends. The only time i run out of memory is when i was working on a 5m x 3m backdrop, i only have 16gb. If you are mainly working with high resolution photo, 32gb more than enough. Could always add another 32gb if you found out you needs more.

Gpu depends on your program, photoshop doesnt seem to improve anything that is very significant when im comparing my 1070 vs 7950.

Cpu cooler not needed, but nice to have if you wants to run your system cooler for whatever reasons.

Think you will need a cpu cooler for your 6800k. K series do not come with stock cooler.
