Just get a 2700 with B450. S$5XX can get.

Need onboard wifi = get MSI b450 gaming pro carbon ac

This is assuming you want a good motherboard for overclocking because these b450 mobos have more/better power phase and vrm heatsinks worthy of x470 tier mobos, if not can go for cheaper ones if running at stock.

ddr4 ram make sure you get dual sticks instead of single stick (eg. 2x8gb instead of 1x16gb) and get 3000mhz/3200mhz ones (preferably on motherboard memory QVL list -- can see on their website). See whether you want 2x8gb or 2x16gb.

You picked a SSHD for your HDD, change to a regular HDD instead. $11x can get 3TB.

And also for the $52 250gb wd ssd the other guy suggested, that pricing is probably a dramless wd green. Other than endurance running out quicker, under load the ssd speed will choke also. I'll suggest 250gb/500gb samsung evo 860 if it's within your budget.

The $759 cpu/mobo combo you listed is overpriced, $6xx can get. But that's not the issue, the 2 MSI mobo I suggested is much better value for money while being the best in class b450 mobos that can match x470 mobos.





Edit: ignore those ppl who tell you to ignore pms. Don't assume ppl all DIY PC builders looking to make quick bucks. Not everyone building PCs to sell other ppl. Time to time ppl clearing BNIB local warranty sealed item or used items with receipt they don't need anymore at lower price than they got it for coz make changes to builds. You get extra price option to compare against your own researched pricing and you can get whichever is cheaper which benefits you. Removed message to check pm as sold off my ryzen 2600x + 2x8gb 3200mhz cl16 rgb ddr4 ram both local sealed set bundled for $465 to another bro on hwz.

Hey Guys, so I just came back from SLS and have purchased my first CPU Parts for build! However, i did come back with a few different rig that i originally intended to purchase due to budget and like to see if you guys have any advice on it.

MOBO: TUF B360 Pro Gaming Wifi (Instead of B450 gaming pro carbon AC)
CPU: I5 8400 (Instead of Ryzen 5 2600)
GPU: MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z (Intended)
Ram: G.skills 2x8 2600 (Normal Ram without heatsink instead of Cosair and Klevv Bolt)
SDD: WD Green 240gb
HDD: Toshiba 1tb
PSU: EVGA 500W
Casing: Coolermaster Elite 361 (Instead of coolermaster 500L)

My total damage was $1,700 with the Keyboard, mouse & OS.

Bought it at Vii PC level 5..

In general, I'm not so particular about the SDD and HDD but I just like to run though with you gys on the mobo and CPU to see if it's a safe buy. The assistant was advicing me on getting an Intel chip and assured me that the MOBO is equivilant to the B450 Gaming Carbon AC and allowed me to change it if I feel it's not the right buy.. He also introduced B450 Aorus pro wifi for the same price as b360 and i settled on the latter.

Another piece of advice he gave me was that if i do intend to do video rendering on a daily basis then intel would be much reliable. Also, ram at 2600.. I mean you guys did mention it has to be at least 3000mhz so I just wanted to be sure that the stuff i bought are okay.. What do you guys think? As this is my first buy ever, I just want to make sure that this is an ok rig to work with. Much appreciated.

I am new to diy PCs but have learnt so much just by coming in here. I'm currently looking to build a new pc from scratch with a budget of $1.5k - $1.6k and did a few research but after noting down my choices and adding up the cost. It costs me over $2k

I hope you guys will be able to advice me on any alternatives to the ones i have chosen so far. I mainly need the pc for Adobe premier pro, photoshop, after effects and the occasional gamings..

Here's my list so far and I'm not sure if there are any better alternatives to them as I'm really new here. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Any thoughts? Too overkill for my needs? Recommendations more than welcomed.

IMHO If you save on your OS, could have bought a nice cheap 512gb NVME from amazon from $133.76 SGD .. or IT show which selling more cheaper nvme.

Specs wise are okay, not too shabby.

I would have gone Ryzen for more cores and 32GB of RAM for content creation. The talk about Intel being more reliable is BS.

Thats the opposite of budget LOL. The i5 was a horrible choice compared to the 2600. So was the horribly underpowered mobo you got. Hate to burst your bubble, but you got scammed at SLS (not surprisingly as SLS is full of sharks happy to prey on firsttimers). Here's how the ahbengs at SLS ALWAYS work(unless they sense you know your stuff): they ALWAYS rec intel chips cuz for them, the profit margin is way higher. You got lied to, basically.

CPU - How the hell is Intel more reliable? If anything the ability to overclock and the more cores+threads available in the 2600 for a CHEAPER price means the ryzen would've been a far more reliable choice for video rendering. Did you try googling the performance difference between the two first?

SSD - Guessing you bought that off the same ah beng who gave you the pricelist. Probably gonna vomit blood if you tell me how much he overpriced you on that budget-line SSD. Next time, stick to Newegg or Amazon for SSDs and wait for sales.

For a 2060 desktop, 1.7k is a little too steep to be considered budget.

Lesson learnt, next time dont just believe everything the Ah Bengs at SLS tell you. SLS has a bad rep for a reason.

With those specs. A ryzen 2600 with asus prime b450 And a msi gaming z 2060. Will put you back around 1.5k without os keyboard and mouse. Thats my rough estimation after actively building computers for the past 2 years.

In sls, you must always be firm in what you are looking to buy(and keep in mind of other alternative equivalents in case nil stock). The moment they sense you are not knowledgeable and/or on the fence of a product, the sales staff will immediately upsell you with other products..
