building a pc rig.

hi all, would like to help a friend of mine build a pc rig.

i have a custom setup for him but just turning into hwz to see what are your recommended setups.

his budget would be, 1.2k +/-, and he doesnt need dvdrw, os.

his usage are relatively for watching shows, preferably a nvidia card so he can game a few like overwatch/dota.

also, does he need monitor? if not, i think 1.2k is a very comfortable budget.

i5 6500 gigabyte b150m-d3h
kingston 16gb ddr4
gigabyte gtx 1060 g1 gaming
wd 1tb blue
superflower leadex 550w gold

monitor, i told him preferably like a dellu2417h
ssd, prolly evo 850

but i feel like perhaps i can downgrade e gfx card cause he doesnt game much, but then again he told me he rather get a card that can sustain for a few years even though he don't game... so yeah

feel free to give your recommended build.

I feel that the ram 8gb can liao.

have u calculated your build? like how much does it cost? casing wise, have u though of anything? he can go for a matx build though.

yup. build is around 1.5kish, he's settling aside a couple hundred of bucks into the misc items.

Assuming we take 1.5k everything in, the rig will have to be changed depending on monitor price...

quite standard but if can get a good deal on 970 or palit 1060 555? why not..

however looking at spec, im guessing abit hard to squeeze samsung SSD in.. why not try zotac SSD or even transcend? Dont forget you also need windows, so that will additional cost regardless where you get it.

he's much more concern about his gfx card. i told him 1060 would an overkill card for him cause he doesn't game much. he's considering 950 but i dont think that's a gaming card, wanna get 900 series also go for 980 ya?
