Hi All

Looking to build a PC which requires the least cables required. I know some may ask me to go for a laptop, but i still like a desktop setup with 2 monitors and speakers if possible.

not sure if this was discussed as an idea before?

Now from what I have the number of wires/cables are this

1. Desktop Power Supply
2. HDMI to monitor 1
3. HDMI to monitor 2
4. Power supply for monitor 1
5. Power supply for monitor 2
6. Power supply for Bluetooth Speaker(Creative roar)
7. Razor Keyboard
8. Power Supply for Printer (can be ignored since no much choice)

Any good idea would be much appreciated. I am also open for cable management ideas or even how I can resize my setup to something smaller without too much cost.

What you can do for power supply to 2x monitor and 1x PC is to bundle them together. I went to LHS at SLT lvl 2 and custom-make a UK plug to 3x C13 plug - for 2x speakers and 1x external DAC. I also did a UK plug to 2x C13 plug for monitor and PC. This saves me 3 power sockets and less clutter.

Your razer keyboard need its own power supply? Not just connected to PC via usb?

Bluetooth speaker shld have its own internal battery? If so, you only need to charge via usb with multi-usb charger or PC usb ports?

I'm using this to reduce 50% of power cable required.

1. Get a dual monitor arm, I think the Prism+ Arc 02 have cable management built-in if I remember correctly. Do check with Aftershock first. Less messy when the cables are pulled together

2. Get like those cable management box from ikea, to pull the additional excess cable lengths together and hide it inside.

Something like this

Or this

3. Wireless keyboard, mouse, speakers for minimum cables but require charging/change battery.

Razor keyboard just a USB... although its default cable has some sound port as well..

Yeah currently only keyboard is wired, rest all wireless but speaker still need power supply.

Thanks everyone for your input.. just wondering, my current CPU box would it be possible to "reduce" its size to something more compact?

I got mine custom made at LHS at SLT lvl 2 for around $20-$25 +/- for the 2x C13 and 3x C13 plugs. Can even customise length from UK plug to splitter and each cable from splitter to C13 plug.

Note that hardly anyone is selling the 2x C13 combo, let alone 3x C13. Those that sell the 2x C13 charged me $30-$40 for it.

To reduce the size of your PC depends on what u have right now. If your current PC components can't reduce the size, your best bet is to sell some parts that can't be input into a smaller PC and use that money to fund for the smaller PC.

The key words are 机箱电源线一拖二 (Y-split) 机箱电源线一拖三 (tri-split). When buying stuffs from taobao/tmall, always choose Tmall if price different is not much. Shops in taobao are mostly reseller whereas tmall are product manufacturer with reputation to protects. There are some manufacturer list their merchandise in taobao and tmall so no different fromn the same source.

Avoid buying the cheapest priced items from taobao, always read the review/feedback before you place the order.

Cheapest priced wires are using 0.5mm² wires but advertised as 0.75mm², the worst of all, the wires are not pure copper, aluminum&copper alloy wires.

They don't sell UK plug type in China for split wire, you either use an adaptor or cut off the China plug and change it to UK plug.
