Building a PC

Hi all, i am planning on buying a new PC. Initially i wanted to buy off the shelf PC at any departmental store but after watching Youtube videos (SG related) on PC Building, i thought of building my own PC instead, just to get the experience and thrill of building 1 from scratch. I am not a gamer, just want to use for normal home usage like surfing the internet, watching youtube etc. I had went to SLS for my market survey of the parts and had a build in mind:-

Price quote from Tradepac:
Motherboard: Biostar H110MHC DDR4 @ $77
CPU: Intel Pentium Processor G4560 @ $96

Bundle CPU + Motherboard = $166
RAM: Crucial 8GB 2400Mhz @ $120
PSU: EVGA B Bronze 500W @ $81
HDD: W Digital 1TB Blue @ $61
GPU: Zotac GTX 1050 2GB @ $209
Case: Techware F3 Elite @ $55
Total: $692

But they quote me $625 instead saying the lowest offer even when i didn't ask for a bargain. Surprisingly.

Anyways, I have a few questions to ask:-
1) Do i really need a GPU in the first place since im not using for gaming?

2) Which motherboard is better? Biostar H110MHC DDR4 or ASUS H110M-A M.2 or Gigabyte H110M-DS2 DDR4

3) W Digital or Toshiba 1TB?Should i also get SSD for the Windows 10 OS?

4) For PSU, FPS Hyper K 80 Plus 500W (cheaper) or EVGA B Bronze 500W?

5) Intel Pentium Processor G4560 or Intel Core i5 7400 or Intel Core i7 7700?

I know nuts about computers, i based this build on youtube videos that people are building on. I just want to know the difference between the various parts, or will there be any difference at all. For CPU, i want to know which 1 would good and fast in things like opening a document, playing youtube videos etc... Again, i am a noob in PC building but am very interested in trying to build 1 from scratch instead of buying off the shelf at departmental store. Your help here would be much appreciated.

Not gaming no need. Use intel onboard graphics.

Go for either gigabyte or asus board will do.

WD and toshiba hdd are equally good but go for WD if no budget. Go for 256gb ssd for OS drive can make your computer fast and responsive and launching application also very fast.

Go for the EVGA

5) Intel Pentium Processor G4560 or Intel Core i5 7400 or Intel Core i7 7700?
G4560 good enough.

My answer: Not only gaming, are you using for any software or graphic-related work?

2) Which motherboard is better? Biostar H110MHC DDR4 or ASUS H110M-A M.2 or Gigabyte H110M-DS2 DDR4
My answer: Ram slots are the same, and the PCI-e slot for Graphic card. Now, if you are not intending to have a graphic card, I would have the Asus board looks better for providing various video output ports including HDMI whereas the Gigabyte does not. Price may vary due to these varying features though.

3) W Digital or Toshiba 1TB?Should i also get SSD for the Windows 10 OS?
My answer: Both also can, my opinion though. I uses WD, Toshiba, Seagate and Samsung HDD. I don't really focus into the differences though. If you want to specifically choose then do research. But I feel any brand and affordable is good enough.

For SSD, this device affects loading/booting/ installing/ running OS and software much much faster. Get any cheap ssd and your performance is way different than just using a HDD. However, if you are comfortable with HDD speed then you can remain with it until you decide to use SSD. Go and try out SSD, you will feel the difference.

4) For PSU, FPS Hyper K 80 Plus 500W (cheaper) or EVGA B Bronze 500W?
My answer: Both brands should be ok. Look into the warranty period. PSU can be either semi-modular or fully modular. Both of them are semi-mod some power cables remain attached. For me, I will go with EVGA.

5) Intel Pentium Processor G4560 or Intel Core i5 7400 or Intel Core i7 7700?
My answer: These 3 processors are of 3 different tiers. G4560: Low budget, light-usage. i5 7400: Main Stream, more cores, better for gaming. i7 7700: High processing power, recommended when for using editing software that would utilize and improve the performance and time to process. These 3 processors are 3 different tier. Anyway, G series (dual core) is no longer released since I3 processor is now quad core since Ryzen launched.

I was browing thru gpu and was interested in this 3 gpu 2nd hand:

1) Palit GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1024MB GDDR5 @ $40

2) Palit GeForce GTX560 Ti 2GB 2048MB GDDR5 @ $65

3) Palit GeForce GTX750 Storm C OC Edition 2048MB GDDR5 @ $80

Should i get any 1 of those? Is yes which 1 better? Im noob at all this... Or should i wait till next month and buy the Zotac GTX 1030 2GB or Zotac GTX 1050 2GB OC Edition or Zotac GTX 1060... just thought of having 1 gpu...

Then planning to slowly upgrade parts by parts when im free

If you can, wait for the AMD Ryzen APUs coming out on 15th.

The 2400G is 4 cores 8 threads and the onboard GPU is on par with the current Nvidia GT 1030. A lot better than Intel onboard HD "graphics"

Out of the 3 cards, the only one i will consider buying 2nd hand is the 750 and even that one i will squeeze down to $50 if in TS's shoes

IIRC there isn’t a gtX 1030, just a GT 1030.. not the best but I would say go for minimum gtx 1050. Depends on the type of games, personally 1050ti is currently the sweet spot for Budget gaming. Used to be gtx 1060 6gb but.. miners have went for the card so it’s out..

If i buy the ASUS H110M-A M.2 motherboard, using the Tecware Vision case, will the LED fans work since the mobo does not have RGB? But the case already have Orbis System installed.

And if i buy the ID Cooling Auraflow 240, can i installed it and sync with the LED with the case fan?

After much research and money check, i bought the following items for my build for now:

CPU: Intel Pentium G4560
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400MHZ
PSU: Cooler Master Masterwatt 650W
GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GT1030 2GB GDDR5
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250gb
HDD: Western Digital 1TB Blue
CPU Cooler: ID Cooling Auraflow 240 RGB
Case: Tecware Vision T-Glass ATX
Case Fan: 3 x Orbis Spectrum
LED Strip: 1 x Orbis Spectrum

I know i should use i5 or i7, will upgrade later. Need a PC for now. So G4560 will do first. I saw da MOBO support AMD but dunnoe how true cause it did not mention at the website

My plan now is to do the Aura Sync build. But i am not sure which GPU and RAM i should get. I know the ID Cooling has Aura Flow and so does the MOBO. Does any1 know which 1 i should buy? I went to PC Themes and Tradepac and The GT1030 was the only 1 available. But i saw 1 guy buying 8 GTX 1080 at Tradepac for what ever reasons.

Is the PSU ok? Wanted to buy Seasonic M12II Modular 620W but both Tradepac & PC Themes no stock also. Either i go for 520W or 720W. Im afraid the 520W is too litte while the 720W like overkill. But im not sure also. They only have either non-modular or semi-modular so decided to go for semi-modular instead.
