Building a PC

I am back to needing a desktop after years of Tablet and Laptop.

Basically wanting this rig to play some modern games, work, watching some movies etc.

I can live with a second hand monitor if needed. Also, I managed to salvage a PC speakers. Have this working Klipsch PM Ultra with Reference Speakers. Still have a lot of life on it. I probably need a soundcard to get it more life!

Can you all recommend me something to suit the budget. Give and take 5K SGD.

Here's a complete setup from Monitor, mouse, keyboard and PC, you can tweak this to fit your needs since I don't know what kind of work you do, e.g. you do graphic work, sound production, office work, software engineering, AI. For GPU, 9070XT/5070Ti/5080 is better but might bust through your budget.

Generic specs based on your budget, prices are all estimate based on Amazon or the retail site. I recommend you buy the sound card, mouse, keyboard all on your own, and yes I personally use and recommend Hall Effect keyboards, it's a game changer:

Thanks for the reply. I don't do AI, programming,design work etc. Mainly something that can play some of the heavy intensive games since I am ditching my laptop for a tablet. So I don't mind investing a little on these stuff.

Don't think so. So long whatever necessary can fit in internally I'm good. I use to have a big ass cooler master wavemaster, I gave it away during covid. Don't need to be so big or too small.

Heavy intensive games? You can consider upgrade to 9070XT (Prices now hovering around $1.1K-$1.3K) should be fine so long as you don't turn up Ray Tracing bah. But if you looking to turn on all the bells and whistles then 5070Ti is the minimum you should get ($1.3k-$1.5k), otherwise can stick to 9070 for normal QHD gaming. I wouldn't recommend 5080, unless your 5k only covers your PC tower.

If you want 4K, it can be done, swap down to a 4k 240Hz IPS/VA monitor under $600, GPU can stick with the recommendation. Everything else can stay the same.

I highly recommend you download and use Lossless Scaling on Steam $7.50, it helps to boost the displayed frame rates of all games at 1440P & 4K even if they don't natively support it. It's a game changer for those looking to get more out of their monitor high refresh rate and their base fps already above 80fps.

9800X3D from newegg is S$730 only. Can save the S$200 and transfer that saving to a 9070XT.

From the legend TekkieGeek SG Carousell listing that was just shared by other members on the Nvidia 5000 thread post, Galax 5070Ti $1330, which is unironically where I get my Min pricing from. He lives near my area.
