Building a photo editing rig

Budget $1200 to $1400
Purpose of the rig is mainly for photoshop, lightroom, minor gaming (counterstrike), surfing net, downloading.

Any recommendation. I know nuts about building a rig and hope to get some recommendation and latest info on the parts available in the market today.

I do not need a monitor as i got a 24" dell.
OS Win7 professional
Wifi Dual Band.
I do not need keyboard, mouse and speaker. (already got these items)

Not sure why do you even need till Win 7 pro. There is no difference in performance and do you need windows server login?

I read somewhere that win 7 pro can utilise 32gb ram? but i guess i just need 16gb.

Btw, why do i need the TP-Link WDN3200 N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter ? SHould the adapter be on the monther board?

If u want other os, i think torrent will be your best friend for windows 7 ultimate
Also, motherboards doesnt have wifi. You need to buy an adapter like the one roy recommended to use wifi.

Yes you can install up to 32gb on Win 7 Pro. But do you need to go that high? If you need you got to consider addtional cost for the rams and the OS which is costly.

Wireless is not build in to the mobo itself. Its a seperate purchase.

Not unless it says that it is bundled in it then it will have a wifi card installed for you with the mobo. Usually it will cost about the same as you buy it seperately.

Unless you doing batch processing for Photoshop, or anything batch, the higher clock speed of the i7 do help but if just editing, there is really no big diff. Even so, I'm sure a few minutes of batch processing won't matter much.

The only time I will use a i7 will be for video work. These need the HT of the i7. Spend the mana on a raid 1 system might be better.

Yes the processor doing the work and if mana not an issue, sure go ahead and get the i7. I was in the same shoes years ago when I build my rig. In the end I choose the i5 instead of the more ex i7 and use the spare cash to go 16gb ram. The different in processing batch work, converting raw to JPEG, was something I could live with. As I said before, a few mins not going to make any different.

Ssd was ex then, so i went with raid 0 for added performance for ps scratch disk. But given how "cheap" ssd are now, I would just go ahead with a small gb ssd for that.

get more ram, i7 for hyper threading, nvidia gpu for more support? ( someone can explain this? i rmb there is some graphic acceleration quite exclusive to nvidia)
