Hi all,

So I've done some research on building a rig and this is what I'm thinking of right now. Any thoughts would be appreciated.. as well as any pitfalls I need to watch out for.

Things I have decided on:
Motherboard: Asus Z170 i-Pro Gaming
CPU: Intel i5 6600k
GPU: Asus GTX 980T Matrix Platinum 6gb DDR5
RAM: Kingston Hyper-X Savage 2800Mhz CL14
HDD: WD Red Pro 7200rpm
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500G

Things I need some advice on:
CPU Cooler: I'm thinking Cooler Master Hyper 612 V2.. air based or liquid based? ideas?
ATX Power Supply: Which one?
Casing Fans: How many would I need?

Also should I go with the Asus Z170 i-Pro Gaming or the M-ITX variant?

Am I missing anything? Any/ all advice would be appreciated!

Finally.. where to buy (Funan/ Sim Lim or online?)

No idea what case you're using. But keep a lookout for the GPU Width and Height Clearance.

lol yeah.. just future proofing I suppose. We're probably likely looking at 2.5-3k (probably on the higher end).

then so far lazada has been promising, i got my 256 gb ssd from lazada at $90 compared to sls $130, the promos and cashback really work in your favour if you are willing to put in effort to seperate each item and maximise the discount

Ok so I went to funan yesterday and got a quote - all in we're looking at 4K (screens and accessories) which is above my budget.

I've decided to instead go for the GTX970 instead of the GTX980Ti.. Haven't done much research on this though.. So any thoughts? It's about half the price but what's the impact on performance?

What types of games will you be playing? If you look at comparison benchmarks the difference is quite big, if your purpose is future proofing then imo it would be better to shell out the extra dough and get the 980Ti. Alternatively you could wait until the new Nvidia series launches, Q2 i think, 980Ti will likely drop in price slightly then.

Witcher 3, but thinking about no mans sky, star citizen (if it ever comes out), mass effect

Edit: oculus rift? If I can get my hands on one
