Scary right? I took a look and also shocked.

Though the SSD + M2 + PSU + Casing could be reduced if budget. Down to maybe 1.7k. But that's not what i aiming for.

Well, there's always a budget compromise somewhere.

SSD is pretty much just for OS and maybe Photoshop, Premiere Pro. GPU, well.. 1070 onwards is expensive. Think the Corsair 140mm fans are too ex? Perhaps oem. Bluray drive, yeah.

Haven't really thought abt color theme yet. Definitely not this though:

Agreed. Pointless getting a WD m.2

Best to get a Samsung 960 Evo and a normal 2tb for data

Just get the cheapest 480-512GB SSD you can find. WD, toshiba, seagate, intel, crucial, Sandisk, samsung all doesn't doesn't really matter. You are not going to feel any diff real time, but that saving of money, can offer you one good meal.

HDD you can stick to a cheaper 3/4TB. Do not need to spend extra on a "red".

Please consider whether you really need a Blu-Ray writer as most software or games are going to the digital download route. And sharing files are mostly through USB drive or cloud based. If you don't need a Blu-Ray drive, you can consider other casings.

Might as well you buy a single 500GB SSD.

Btw the SLC partition on smaller TLC drives for write acceleration are smaller than what you get on a 500GB+ TLC SSD. Lower sustained performance if you're moving data in and out of the SSD for a sustained period.

I would skip the 850 and go for a 960. The speed difference between SATA and M.2 is palpable for me.

So i'm tweaking it to remove the M2 and thinking of the Evo 850 SSD
