going to get it now cos i need a PC. im keen on 5700XT but im just worried about all the negative feedbacks on blackscreen and sudden reboot.

Any reason for HGST instead of ironwolf? since both are running at 7200rpm and CMR.

thanks for pcpartpicker. found that 2 sata ports on B450 tomahawk will be disabled when nvme is in use. changing to B550 tomahawk.

contemplating on 2nd WD SN750 since its cheap.

If possible, hold till 4th Q. Next gen GPUs scheduled to launch then. Also the period when components are religiously on sale.

If you insist, get the RTX 2070 Super if you stream with it or see a future with DLSS 2.0 and RTX. I purchased a RX 5700 last year and have no issue.

HGST for HDDs, use pcpartpicker to check compatibility for storage, cooler, GPU fit.

You buying 6TB for the Ironwolf right? Get from Lazada, official Seagate store today going for $260, if can get voucher be only $250. The dynacore pricing is really chop carrothead.

As for HGST, they have been bought over by WD since 2012. It was WD that pulled that SMR nonsense first. So up to you, but looking at WD record, no thanks for me.

This is incorrect. WD, Seagate and Toshiba all shipped SMR without disclosure, in drives not expected to.

WD drew greater ire mostly due to its reputation and prominent NAS Red line. WD did not do itself any favor with its and its competitors polar PR.

Prior to moving away from HDDs, I've had more Seagate drive failures. Again, go with what's comfortable.

Second last paragraph, you may change your perception of HGST. They may have been fine in the past but since being bought over, lots of things have changed.

Lol think you even more incorrect. Toshiba, WD and Seagate did the SMR across their basic consumer line (expected since they are more value conscious, more TB at lower price no one will complain), but WD did it even further by having it done in their NAS line, a premium product line.

For a premium paid for NAS line product, definitely did not sit down well with the users.

yup. was weighting the pro and con. $100 more for extra warranty and peace of mind with 15% increased performance thus decided to bite the bullet with 2070 super.

yup, has been reading up on the cmr vs smr and what WD did wasnt right IMO. decided to go with ironwolf as its CMR and it seems to be one of the better choice.
