Hi all,

Am in the process of building a new PC. Previously has asked for advice but ended up not taking it, as I had to go overseas.

In any case, I have amended my budget and requirements :o
Budget will exclude Monitor / Keyboard & mouse / OS

This will be a gaming PC.
I only play MMORPG games like FF14, Aion etc
I do not have a need to overclock, and will be using @ resolution 1920 x 1080

Could anyone help me to spec it out

CPU & Mobo
CPU: Intel i7 haswell
Motherboard:Asus ROG / TUF series?

GFX
GFX: SLI / X-Fire not needed. Need to run Aion @ mass siege w/o issues etc at high quality. Is Nvidia 780 sufficient or can I get a lower spec?

Storage
SSD: Bought Intel 530, 240gb SSD from amazon ... should I get 1 more SSD for separate storage? Not getting HDD.

Ram: 16 gb or 32 gb? Thinking of going ram disk. [16 gb is a must... i run multi ram intensive stuff, and keep running out of space with 8 gb]

Casing and misc
Casing: Is there any nice small casing that's preferably dust resistant. Prob small to medium casing with style?

Power supply: Pls recommend a good brand.
Need ext power supply as well, as my house sometimes blackout if there is heavy rain.

Sound: Not needed. Using integrated

Budget:
less than 3k. The lower the better.
As I am coming back from laptop series after over 10+ years, I'm rusty with the latest news.

If you are able to recommend specs to reduce the price, please go ahead =)

Thanks in advance

i7-4770/i5-4570 + MSI B85M G43 (depends if u need the power of i7)
MSI R9 280X
WD Blue 1TB (do consider a HDD, impossible to store everything in SSD unless u are very rich.)
get 2x8GB 1st. If run out, can get another 2x8gb stick. G.skill ripjaws will do.
SuperFlower Golden Green HX600w will do
There is no such thing as dust resistant case. But for a small case, can consider Corsair 350d, mATX case or Bitfenix Prodigy M.

Thanks for the input.

I don't need a normal HDD as I don't have a lot of items... currently using a 320gb HDD and still with over 60% free space.

However, with intel 530 SSD having 220 gb after formating, I might have space constraint... Hence looking at another SSD.

Probably Samsung 840 Pro, or is there another better SSD in performance?

For graphics card, will be looking for Nvidia for shadowplay feature... or does ATI have similar feature?

I can't find much reviews on MSI B85M... anyone else got any comments on how is it?

...

For i7-4770 / i5-4570 ... which is a better price / performance ratio?

For ram, i think that's a good advise... will go for 8 x 2 first and then top up when necessary. TY

What ram intensive stuff do you do?

The motherboard he recommended doesnt go well with you budget, it's a budget oriented board.

But since you not overclocking it is enough.

Also MMORG i never seen any very graphic intensive MMORG before..

If you thinking of taking MSI B85M. i will recommed asrock H87 Performance or B85m Pro4 for gaming.

i7 4770 will high in price, i5 4570 is much lower than i7 itself.

correct me if wrong..

yea 3k. but if can reduce expenses.. might as well.
it's like buying a sports car to travel 1 street away, when a bicycle can do the job.

So far, all the recommendation indicate ~1.6k++

is this a new brand? :s11:

if i5 + mobo ... then that will be the limiting factor for nvidia 780 right? in this case, could i downgrade the card without performance penalty?

Jian19,
noted for mobo and casing... will go check up on both of them ..

TY everyone for suggestions as well

Avexir is not a old brand. They have been in market for quite some time. The ram comes with led mount on spreader. It is darn pretty.

Gtx780 wont be limited by an 4570.
