Currently at aftershock looking thru and considering the following specification.
3 Years Parts Warranty
ASUS B450 TUF Gaming Plus
AMD RYZEN 5 3600 | 4.2 GHZ | 6 Cores 12 Threads
ZOTAC RTX 2070 SUPER AMP OC 8GB
16GB DDR4 2666 Mhz (8x2)
AFTERSHOCK SPECTRA GLACIER 240 | 240 mm Radiator | 120mm RGB Spectra Fans x 2
256GB M.2 NVME SSD
TOSHIBA 1TB 3.5 INCH HDD | 7200RPM | (Buffer Size 32MB)

The current price is 1.9
budget is 2.5k (pref not to hit)

was also looking thru individual parts ordering from SLS (about 1.7 close 1.8 due to using old HDD and SDD)

Are you planning on DIY build? If so then I would go for buying and building yourself as it’s always better for you to control what goes into the system. If you copy the shops spec u may not save much. Since you have a higher Budget you could tweak thing a bit more

What is the computer used for? Are you going to OC? Why do water cooling? Got experience before?

Else just stick to air cooler, simple one like Deepcool Gammaxx 400 or Hyper 212 Evo is sufficient. Can channel that funding elsewhere.

Must be ASUS RTX2070? Other brand boost clock also 1815mhz like Palit RTX2070 and at $688 vs ASUS MSRP of $799.

I actually looked at buying the parts from SLS first(the 2nd part) aftershocks was more like for me to compare

The computer will be used for gaming (AAA games) most of the time and coding maybe some small rendering.
Nope, no water cooling experience but would like to try it out tho as my room is kinda hot.
what about the mobo is there a better 1 for me to upgrade?

Try to go for rams that are at least 3200mhz? I remember seeing corsair vengeance 3200mhz rams that are only $4 more than the 2666mhz variant.

212evo and 650w gold is enough , game in aircon is the best way . No other aio cooler can beat

I heard corsair switched over from samsung b dies and has less oc potential now, and q a few sites recommending crucial ballistix ram instead with micron e die, good oc potential and tight timings.

To be fair, unlike prebuilts that have the parts pre-selected and usually you either get subpar motherboards or have to spend extra on a super high-end option, DIY allows you to choose boards that have debugging LEDs that help you identify any problem during POST. Debug LEDs are starting to get common even on the budget boards and it's one of the many reasons why MSI's B450 lineup was popular IMO.

I would buy my own and fix.


Reason : Simple. I don't have to wait for them.

I don't think they have a service guarantee response time right? So if they come 1 day? 2 days or 1 week later, then LLST just wait? I would have troubleshoot, identify the fault and RMA the parts already.


But that is if you know how to troubleshoot and have spare parts to swop to troubleshoot.

if you got the knowledge on troubleshooting etc etc, than go DIY for rma. like me i don't know anything and i would just pay extra for the after sales support at 1 location since i'm staying nearby bendemeer.

Yea that's the part I'm worried about - last time still got time to self read and troubleshoot but old man now so time is limited.....
Will prefer to have a number to call and troubleshoot if anything goes wrong
