Hey everybody,

My friend has asked me to build a rig for him.

His main use will be for gaming.

I asked for some of the things he wanted:

2x 1080p monitors (1 main gaming screen the other auxiliary screen)

Case preferably with window

Needs OS (windows 7 preferably)

Wants it to run cool + as quiet as possible (basically no turbine sounding fan)

Might* want to SLI or Xfire in future. (although I think single card less issues)

Main purpose gaming. Will also use for data analysis and number crunching.

No need for mouse kb etc.

The budget he has is pretty modest, everything (including hdd, os and 2x monitors) $2500

so here is what I can think of so far, I would like to seek your advice accordingly if you feel something should be better chosen.

Windows 7 64bit Home --- $120

AOC 23 i2367FH (IPS) LED.. $259 --- X2
or
ASUS 23 VS239H LED IPS.. $259 --- X2

Case: 350D or if can get H440 --- ~~ $200

Crucial M500 240GB SSD --- $215

WESTERN.D 2TB BLACK 64MB --- $209

G.SKILL RIPJAWS-X 1600MHZ ( 8GBx2pcs ) CL9 --- $230

H80i cpu cooler

For the gpu not sure if should go for 770 or 680 more wu hua

and for the cpu mobo would be determined according to what case is chosen, also not sure if can squeeze 4770k instead of 4670k? or if too overkill then can pump more budget to Gpu

Thanks!

Everything in $2500

Some of the parts listed dont seems to be right. With that budget you can easily fit a slightly higher end gpu and probably a single 1440p monitor rather than a split screen.

But i leave it to you if you wanna have a split screen options.

WD Black is pointless if you gonna add in a SSD. Most value for money would be the WD Green 2tb

Grab the Crucial from Amazon now. $175

Corsair 350D is a matx chassis. So go for some other chassis.

Go for DELL s2340L with thinner bezel

Lastly a cooler go for a bigger larger surface area rad like Corsair H100i

But after saying all that. It will not fit the $2500 budget. Cause to go SLI or Xfire in future you will need a Z87 mobo to do so. And the x8/x8 config for PCIe. Furthermore the need of 2 screens and also if you want to have Nvidia cards you gotta pay even more by $100.

This is by far your money can stretch to.

MSI Z87 G45 Gaming + i5-4670k ~ $499
Gskills ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb kit ~ $110
WD Green 2tb ~ $106
Crucial M500 240gb Amazon Set ~ SGD$175
Gigabyte r9 29OC 4gb 3x Windforce ~ $630
Corsair RM850 850w 80+ Gold Fully Modular PSU ~ $199
Fractal Design Arc Midi ~ $129
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM ~ $115
Dell S2340L 23inch IPS Panel x2 ~ $438
Corsair H100i ~ $150

Total $2572 Buy at tradepac. DIY. And please ask for discount. Im sure you can get it very close to your given budget.

Trust your build list. Be confident. The parts you chose that i have recommended are already an answer to you.

Do your friend have any preference for matte or glossy monitors as DELL 23” S2340L has a glossy finish.

You can refer to this to see the reflection.

It is not recommended to get a glossy monitor if the monitor is facing the window unless the window is always closed.
