From what I read, is cause BP that area a lot of slopes, LRT not good for that, so keep breaking down.

https://theindependent.sg/bplrt-political-pressure/

Khaw Boon Wan revealed a few weeks ago that the line was constructed as an ā€œafterthought,ā€ under ā€œpolitical pressure,ā€ admitting that he did not enjoy commuting on the line that has been built in a ā€œmasochistic wayā€:

ā€œNo LRT is designed that way, in such a masochistic manner, where you force yourself up and down, twist and turn…It caused me dizziness…but that’s life.ā€

Ng Chee Meng clarified Khaw’s comments in Parliament yesterday, when he revealed that the line was constructed even though the LRT design was not suited to the terrain of Bukit Panjang:

ā€œIn the 1990s, LTA was exploring a pilot network to bridge the last-mile gap from the MRT system and ease vehicle congestion within housing estates where population growth had stretched the road capacity. Bukit Panjang was identified in 1994 for the pilot, even though it was planned and built without LRT in mind.ā€

When pressed by Workers’ Party MP Pritam Singh to clarify Khaw’s ā€œpolitical pressureā€ comment, Ng said:

ā€œThe primary issue with the BPLRT is that the design was adapted from an airport system to a housing estate… It was a ā€˜straight-line’ design which had to be adapted to undulating terrain and sharp turns.ā€

That's the thing with pap, they never ever come clean. They never admit mistakes, they never take responsibility, and they expect progress?

The sensor and signalling systems cannot cope with the complexity of so many stations.

Cannot tear. The roads around the LRT area is quite pack and jam, esp with schools, market n mall. Also not many buses into the neighbhd. Too many units in bukit panj.
Is quite similar to SK and pungo. Jus Look at the amt of ppl taking LRT.

Actually if u look at the LRT cabin designs, 2cabins can accommodate abt 1.5x tge size of dbl decker bus load of commuters. I alwys wonder y they cant increase the 2-cabin to 3-cabin trains

means have to extend platform length, also means have to extend station length, then have to redo the track switches because they are right outside the station, then have to adjust the signalling position etc etc etc
all these things will shut the whole system and take years to do :o :o :o
