Bulk Email Service

Looking for a reliable bulk email service for my system, preferable based in Singapore (for invoicing reasons). Don't need expensive plans because email volumes less than 50k per month. Currently using Vodien for normal emails but they don't allow mass broadcast. I have some problems with AWS SES.

Not sure of services based in Singapore but you can look at

for 50k emails (monthly):
Mailgun ($35 usd)
Sendgrid ($15 usd)

application to ses issue. we did a test and used vodien smtp to blast out 1000 test emails versus using ses. vodien did it in 1.5 minutes, while ses took 18 minutes

already raised a a ticket to aws and they suggested options but looking at alternatives just in case we can't fix it.

I see. Another service I know is Mandrill from Mailchimp. You can consider that too.

That being said, how are you sending via SES? Using their WS or SMTP endpoint? Generally what I have done before in projects is send via my own Postfix SMTP and relay via AWS SES SMTP. This way my postfix server will perform all the retries and offload from my application.

Now sure what is causing the slowness, but an idea for you to consider and try out.

doesnt sound right. have u move out of test sandbox?!?
did u request to increase the max rate too?

Maybe answer for TS casually,
Cant be absolutely sure, but not likely still in sandbox. Otherwise it wouldn't be 18mins for 1000 emails because of this restriction

You can send a maximum of 200 messages per 24-hour period.
You can send a maximum of 1 message per second.

However there is a "Desired Maximum Send Rate" that can be requested from Amazon CS. If TS has already approached AWS CS, this should be already considered.

I tend to suspect it has to do with outgoing SES IP reputation at the receiving end. Graylisting etc... while can't be sure how TS measure the 18mins, receiving end or sending end ? (TS to response)

Sending out the bulk emails is one thing and having it received at the recipient end without being sent to spam folder is another.

sendgrid.com works reasonably well.
