bundled PC - ? Acer Predator - no SSD

Hi - am looking to get a desktop for gaming and of course the usual office work, and would prefer to get from big companies (to save hassle in terms of 1st year warranty - don't have time to go to and fro from SLS to fix problems if things go wrong, and too lazy to build my own). Looking for good desktops with SSD hard drives in particular (paired with HDD)

Currently, looking through what's available - the Acer Predator G3-605 seems to be best deal in terms of components and bang for buck - advertised in Challenger as being $1,999.
- i7-4770 (3.4 GHz)
- NVidia GTX 660, 1.5GB DDR5 RAM
- 16 GB RAM, 2 TB HDD
- 23 " monitor
- Win 8

Looked also at Dell XPS 8700.

I wonder why there's no desktop with SSD drives? I am using one on my 1st generation Razer Blade now, it's pretty cool and I don't think I can go back to HDD. The US version of Acer Predator has a 128 GB SSD paired with 2 TB hard disk (with a BlueRay) (and it's cheaper too!) Any other options other than building your own?

For $1999 its insane. So ex. DIY so much cheaper and can get something way better than what you have mentioned.

But since you think you don't have time to go down to SLS to RMA certain products, may be what you could tell us is which part of sg are you living in and probably we would be able recommend you something like most of the products are to that particular distro. So making RMA an easier option for you.

And btw the warranty wise vs OEM coms is different. DIY parts are within 2-3years. Except for certain HDD or SSD that are 5 years. And certain PSU that are more than 5 years. Other than OEM 1year, or extended warranty the most 3 years and have to pay extra.

If you still insist on OEM coms then go ahead. Buy whatever you think you like and add an SSD.

Of cause the cost isn't great imo.

When buying branded desktops, don't expect the cutting edge (SSD) or value for money (GTX660 system for less than $1.2k)

With 2K in your hand, i suggest you to ask the members here to help suggest a setup rig for you. Bring that list go to sim lim and have it setup for you.

Of cos, if you insist on pre-build PC, just go for it.

With the budget of 2k you can definitely go for the more premium brands like MSI/Asus which are definitely very reliable and a top notch PSU (e.g. Superflower).

I recall seeing a FSP 300W powering a $1999 i7 acer PC sometime back when a friend's PSU asploded after warranty cover by acer ended. got him a Seasonic S12II to replace it.

Don't forget cost include 23" monitor n Win 8 OS n I believe in Clyde keyboard n mouse also.

Depending on what Peripherals TS has n wanna re-use, real budget for system will be different.

or both can come together...but usually that is when they are transitioning to newer cpu models...aka clearance!

Nah~ When you open up an OEM PC and when you take a look at the components, you will most likely feel being ripped off.

Be it Acer, Dell, or HP.

Recent HP envy desktop have quite solid build. I bought one, a previous model, 3770, 8GB, GTX660 and still comes with AIO water cooling inside. PSU is a delta, not bad.

DIY hardcores will never understand Pre-made PCs but truth is, they have a bigger market share than DIYs.

People who do not want to worry about anything, or do not have any computer DIY know-how or simply do not bother just want a PC that can work, clearly DIY isn't for them. They are better off with a branded PC with support.
