Burning smell from PC

My PC will often produce a burning smoke when I boot up the system.
It smells like burning rubber.
I tried to open my casing and look for any sign of burned cables or burned parts but everything seems fine.
Possible issue could be?
Any PC expert here?

Where this smoke come from? Visible? If visible can open the side panel and turn it on and observe where the smoke come from lor. Likely PSU

take out the psu.. and check all the connector and put the psu near your nose see if the psu got any smell? see if you have spare psu and try to replace it and test whether got smell or not. suspect might be the caps in inside the psu bloated?

You don't want the elements to get excited when the pc is on and you are not around...

Hmm just checking, got chance is mobo ah? I thought like if mobo caps something wrong wont be able to power on already? Or could the power phases be damaged and still be turned on?

since u say is the mobo check for burnt or black marks or the caps.. if unable to identify pls send for rma and ask them to check for you..

mobo caps faulty may still power on
Been there done that

I have seen mobo faulty can post but cannot go into windows
Some mobo addicted to post.
Some are just shy to post.

Maybe user use DVD-Rom Tray as cup holder
Condensation from cup dripped onto tray, slowly down the power supply cables before going into the power supply.

I looked deeper into the PSU and saw melted rubber liked thing inside the PSU.
Hope this is the cause of the problem.
PSU has 3 years warranty?
Using Superflower PSU, I thought this brand is ok?
Use less than 2 years, then parts get melted?

Hope there is no other issue with the mobo.
Hard to find replacement since z170 and z270 mobo are phased out by z370.

Superflower PSU are good. Still, it's not perfect. There are still less than ideal units, albeit, very little. You're just unlucky to get one that's all.

Superflower Silver and Gold both have 5 years warranty. Bring your psu to rma if the smell really come from there.

I will put my nose next to the PSU when I on it again later lol

It should not be mobo issue as my mobo can post and boot up and run window as per normal.
