Rare earth is not that simple. Many countries have the minerals. But to get the rare earth end product someone needs to do the processing work which is pollutive. China is the one doing the dirty work. The West gave that up a long time ago. To restart now will take at least five years likely longer.

Rare earth is not rare, although the name is, and is plentiful everywhere. Is that China is the only country or one of a few that has the technology to harvest and process them. You think if it's so easily solved, why did Trump bang the table?

China are the biggest customer buying soy beans from US farmers

Ever since they stop importing soy beans from US

US farmer are affected hence you see why Trump so anxious wanna meet up with Xi to clinch a deal on soy beans as well as rare earth
