Buy a desktop with cheap Nvidia GPU

Hi, havent been using desktops for quite long. Looking to buy under $500 budget
Rough specs
CPU - i5
Memory - 16gb/32gb
Hdd - 256/512 gb ssd
Gpu - any nvidia (simple deep learning work)
(Even if dont have, i can buy a second hand one and insert in, provided it is compatible with mobo)


Primariy used by pri school kids. I saw some refurbished sets for $300 plus in lazada etc.

How to get them at competitive prices from shop or diy ?

fully looking at 2nd hand...
u can get a rig as long as 150sgd
but not sure how far back are u willing to go...

the lazada one u linked are literally 10 year old parts, thats why theyre cheap. they also cannot accomodate many gpus, being limited to half height cards and u likely wont get any pcie 6/8p power so u will have to get cards that can be powered by pcie slot power only. the safest bet is something like a 3050 6gb, but i doubt that 6gb of vram will be enough to run ml models that will run better than something run on colab.

I see most of these cheap computers are like really realy old parts which can poof at any time.
Now i am considering a desktop pc from Aftershock or Polygon pc which are like $700/$800 like that

Not that old actually , i even see 5600 with rtx1650 selling around $300 which is quite good deal . At carusell

Deep learning ? Don't you need a gpu with large VRAM and high tensor core count for that ? That won't be "cheap"

Maybe can consider RTX 3060 12GB version? Used one under $300 should be possible.

I used to do some work with PyTorch and ONNX with tensorRT as the execution provider using an RTX 3060 12GB, and it really sped things up for me.

You will have better luck with second hand than brand new sets.
Just take note second hand usually will have issues.
So pros and cons.

You can also take a look at shops like myHalo which they take in old PC
see got any cheaper branded PC.

Not sure what you mean.. all kind of product stocks have a limit.
