Both target at different group of people.
iPhone used to be the flagship device in 2017, 7 years later. iOS support stopped and it probably doesn't have much 2nd hand price.

Samsung A16 is designed to be low-end device for budget conscious or basic users.

Both are quite different leh.

If you on budget and want iPhone, then can consider iPhone SE 4(?).
If you want Android, Samsung A16 is ok. Do consider Chinese brand which can offer more features for the same budget.

What’s your actual budget? If around 300-400 range, you can consider 11 pro.

logically, A16 would be most ideal given tht any of the iPhone available at that price point likely do not include 5G. Maybe another phone to consider is iphone 12 (standard). I understand that glass and stainless steel definitely feels premium compared to cheap plastic android phones offer at that price point.
