Hi, looking to build a HTPC to connect to a AVR and 4K TV for movies playback only. Needs to be able to support 4K @ 60hz and pass through hd audio such as DTS-HD, Dolby Atmos, etc as I have a 5.1.4 system setup. Won't be used for gaming.

Budget wise abt $1k.
Any recommendations?

I have 16gb ram, 1x 128gb ssd, 1x 500gb ssd, 650w corsair psu, full tower case.

Thanks for any recommendations

Hi all bros,

suddenly was unable to power-up the computer, figured it was the PSU that was down so went down to SLS and got a new PSU. Came home to find out that it was the mobo that was fried.

Am using an old set up from several years back but the rig was running at very comfortable state even with high settings during gaming. (probably due to the investment I put into the old GPU)

I'm getting a new mobo but havent been up to date lately with all the news and trends, would like to get some recommendation from the bros here wrt which mobo is suitable for a mid range gaming computer.

Budget hovering around $400-500, trying to save some money if I can since I already wasted money changing the GPU.

Thanks in advance for all the advice bros!

den what about ur mobo and cpu?

cos if u wannna get a 27" g-sync monitor can just buy a gtx 1070/1080 which should give u the best experiences in gaming. ;)

What gpu are u using? If its 9xx series, some shops at lvl 4, 5, 6 do sell. Around $10-15 a piece.

If its 1080/1070, then u have no choice but to fork out more for asus. Evga has one but i doubt its coming to sg.

Hi guys.

I just racked my brains on a setup but I am unsure if it is feasible or not. Need help to know if it's feasible and also if it is, am I able to lower the cost by 200 bucks or so without compromising performance. And as I stated before. Pc will be used for Dota 2 over watch, and the division.

MOBO&CPU: Asus maximus viii ranger + i5 6600 ($646)
GPU: Asus gtx 970 4gb strix DDR5 ($489)
RAM: Kingston 2133mhz cl15 8gbx2 ($94)
SSD: Samsung evo 850 250gb ssd ($139)
HDD: WD 1TB Blue 64mb sata3 ($76)
PSU: Seasonic m12ii-modular 620w ($115)
OS: WINDOWS 10 HOME ($158)
WiFi: Asus pce-ac56 dual band card ac1300 ($99)
Monitor: Dell S2316H ($209)

All prices quoted from pcthemes. As it's easier for me to just get from one places.

Total:$2104

1) is the build feasible?
2) can I reduce cost by 200-300 without compromising performance?

Thank you all in advance for all your help.

Hello there. Nope. I've not bought overwatch. The zotac one you recommended sounds good. Will make the switch.

Anyway I've no preference over the casing. Maybe a corsair spec-01 ($79) will do.

So overall is the build feasible?

Ah the os. Alright will do the necessary outsourcing to save. Also with regards to cooling wise. Do I need additional fans?

shouldn't be an issues, since GTX 970 wouldn't runs too hot under normal gaming load like overwatch, and beside that i believe that the case comes with 2 front intake fans and 1 rear fans. so should be good enough for the air flow.
