The sales lady at Fuwell said that with these configs, I need 950W to power them. :s11:

She wants to clear stock. Go to PCthemes to buy your stuffs or PM a system builder here named fortran. You'll get them cheaper.

Change your PSU to FSP Aurum 650w or Seasonic x660. CPU cooler change to Coolermaster hyper 212+. I am assuming you're getting a 2500k.

GFX wise you can go for sapphire HD6950 toxic (or GTX560ti hawk and OC) to cut cost but still maintain a HD6970 performance.

That 27" monitor youre getting if I'm not wrong has 1920x1080 resolution and a TN panel. Consider Dell eIPS 23" mon.

Hullo! Have decided to buy a new rig this or next weekend and need some advice.

This is the first time I'm doing the shopping by myself (my last rig was bought and assembled by a friend) so please also recommend a reliable shop for me to buy from. I need someone who can assemble for me... if can do Windows 7 installation for me as well that would be good (lazy to install lah).

Budget:
1,400 to 1,600

Purpose:
Mostly gaming, but not FPS games. Mainly RTS/RPG games like Shogun 2 and Diablo 3. Will also use it for playing videos.

Computer will be placed on the table, to the right of my monitor.

Hope the rig can last 3 to 4 years.

Parts not needed:
Monitor, keyboard.

Rig should include:
Razer Abyssus mouse (is that a cost-effective replacement for a Copperhead? My Copperhead is dying.)

Speakers (I currently have a pair of 7-year old Dell speakers, so can't get any worse. I don't mind having a subwoofer, but don't have to.)

SSD (Cannot stand long boot times. I usually play one game for many months, so I hope to install that one game on it as well.)

Windows 7 Premium

500GB portable HD (I need one anyway, so I thought if I buy with the PC I might get a better price.)

Others:
Not planning to OC

Thanks!

(Should I post this here or start a new thread?)

Xigmatec Gaia now available in PCthemes. They've restocked. Tradepac has 1 piece of Prima Boss Iceage 2 @ $58. GTs are available at PCthemes (left 2-3) and chamoxa both selling at $29, cybermind at $32. Sold out at Bell. Antec H620 still selling at $85 PCthemes.

For P67 sabertooth users, chamoxa just stock up on 50x50x10mm fans that's compatible for the optional motherboard fan. You guys should know what I mean. $8.

Thanks! Some questions:

Why the MSI 560 Ti instead of one of the other brands like Palit or Leadtek?

Is the Hitachi 1TB 7200rpm the same as the Samsung Spinpoint F3?

Is there any point in getting an i5 2400 instead of an i5 2320?

Better cooling, good service center, 3yrs warranty compared to leadtek and faster factory clocked.

If you can find the F3 then by all means.

2400 is just 100mhz more than 2320. You decide if it's worth the extra cost.

I don't know what difference 100mhz would make :) guess i'll stick to the 2320. but if i did go for the 2400, what motherboard would i use?

Same board. Anyway you can do a simple minor OC of 400mhz more on the 2320. You can find the thread on how to do so in this forum too. Search for 2400 biostar tp67b+.
