Thanks for your input, MoneyFace! I'm not IT savvy, so is the selection for i5-2400 over i5-2500 is because i'm not OC-ing?

Also, I'm new to the field of SSD. Is the recommended Strontium Matrix over Corsair force 3/Crucial M4 due to budget reasons or is it because of stability/performance/warranty.

thanks again :)

The recommendations are more towards bang for buck, strontium Matrix performs near the two mentioned SSDs.

BF3 not officially out yet so no one can tell you for sure but do check out the cpu cores benchmarks of BF2 here for reference.

There is BF3 benchmark here but it's based on alpha version.
Thanks..looking at that cheapest upgrade path to just play BF3 might be:
Upgrade CPU to Q9550 (used around 180$)
Buy another HD4850 to crossfire (used 50$)
Any thoughts?

If you still want to stick with your current platform then your choices will be limited.

Personally I prefer single card solutions but if you feel x-fire will give bang for buck, by all means. But do note x-fire performance/compatibility does differ from game to game.

Hi guys, reconstructing my previous post.

I'm getting a new cpu this week. What my new cpu needs is a, good processor like i5/AMD, Good Graphic Card and so on. The games I play are CODmww, L4D, Red alert3, WoW, WE2011/Fifa2011, Need For Speed and Internet surfing/Photoshop. Hoping to use ultra high setting or high setting in all the games stated above.

The monitor I have now was recently bought from challenger at 229$, it's a LG led 22 inch monitor. I don't have the model codes with me now as I'm outside.

My budget: 1.3k with Window 7 but Excluding Monitor, Speakers and Mouse.

I'm hoping to maximize my budget of 1.3k to get a really Good Processor/Motherboard/Graphic Card which can last me like a long time.

Pardon me for being long-winded as this is my first time getting a DIY cpu and I'm a real noob with technology.

Thanks alot, your help is appreciated.

May I know any special reason that you recommend Strontium Matrix rather than Intel 320?

Saw the review at VR Zone, although it leads most of the benchmarks but Intel doesn't lag by a large margin.

At the around the same price, for Intel 320 you get the mounting kit+5yrs warranty as well.
And Intel generally has better reliability, no?

Yup... I know about the 8mb issue but Intel have also released a firmware to fix the issue.

Unless the FW update haven't fixed the problem.

Barring that problem, Intel or Strontium?
