Look down on FX8350? its the best value cpu in the market. Cheaper than 3570k yet over clock better and offers 8 cores.

Easily pushed to 4.5ghz @ 1.4V with loaded temp at 57ºC only.

Try it on ur intel chip and make the comparison.

Really hate the way intel did with every gen need to change mobo too. For amd, I can always use back my mobo and slap a new chip in whenever I see the need and its definitely better value than intel.

The 8 cores are really useful not only for high end games like crysis 3 it is also good for my ridiculously cpu intensive engineering software.

If TS doesn't want to over clock then I would also suggest him to go for intel.

Buy and build at Tradepac.

Some things to take note when dealing with Tradepac:

  • Be firm with your decision when buying from Tradepac. Don't be swayed by their sales assistant to upgrade and buy more expensive components which you don't require.
  • Check all the components you plan to purchase are correct before you make payment.
  • Stay at the shop and supervise them as they assemble your rig and make sure they return all spare chassis parts. You might want to take note that Tradepac cable management skills may not be up to your satisfactory level.

Love AMD, they have nice budget chips and some of their integrated gpu processors are pretty nice for an all-in-one system.

But again to bhtan83 & deathsaurerxxx, 2.5k and Heavy Gamer. You still recommend AMD?

By the way, the benchmark shows an 8 core AMD processor at 500Mhz faster speed than the intel i5 (let's ignore the entire existence of the i7 line for now since we're talking about gaming) beating the latter. With a stunning 0.3fps margin in one website and 1fps margin in another... Let's also ignore the min fps and ivy's overclocking allowance.

Ok... I love Intel and AMD both but let's remove the fanboy goggles for a second and stop sipping on the kool-aid aight?

Nippon has a nice config well within budget, but maybe just add a k processor for if he ever decides to overclock? They're not that much more expensive.

quite blur haha..i don't know overclocking.

Hey since you have a nice budget might as well get a i5 3570k, overlooking is quite simply just folo guides found all around the Web. Even a simple oc should be able to reach 4.2ghz (source:myself tried and tested, moderate gamer but demanding on the eye candy)

Before this deteriorates any further let me make myself clear i'm just saying that llhuskyll isn't wrong in suggesting a FX-8350 cpu as the TS states that he will be playing Crysis 3 and the benchmark shows that it performs just as well as the i5. Buying an intel is a safer bet as applications based on a mixture of single and multithreaded workloads are typically wins for Intel and AMD's FX series poor single-threaded CPU performance will always be it's Achilles' heel especially games and programs currently still favouring single threaded applications, which most of the users like us are using. That's why i used the expression "lol" to express my surprise when i saw the benchmark for Crysis 3 weeks ago on the internet.

i dont know how big the difference youre talking about in crysis 3 but in terms of cpu performace i believe intel core vs core performance is better or equal(even in multi threaded)? btw even if amd 8350 is really have differences in crysis 3 how big isit? if the diff is by a few frames then i dont really think its going to make a difference. i think is better to get 3570k as it has better performance overall.if you want significant fps difference in crysis 3 i think better look more at graphics section

lol everyone once you get to i5 3450 and above and for AMD FX 8320 and above...it will matter very less. you only need to have a very good GPU...for a 2.5K a Titan should be in your list. I cant recommend Asus ARES II for you as you stated you dont want WC.

not being defensive ,just stating my point of view if you dont like it,so be it. btw im just making the same point as eminus is making above your comment. if you want talk about gaming performance why talk about cpu?

Ok, ok. Intel good, AMD good.

Crysis 3 is one of the few games that actually benefits from multiple cores as deathsaurexx mentions.

Eminus, I don't think Titan can fit into 2.5k budget considering new from shop will take $1599 right? Ares II at 2K plus out of the question.

Just look at Nippon's build. Very nice very flexible. He's the only one who contributed and I apologize for derailing this thread into a Intel vs AMD whine fest. My fault.

Peace.

Hey I think to simply matter you should be looking at at least i5-3450k and asrock z77 pro3 or pro 4 full atx board.

Ssd price on the raise new pricing for M5P is over 330 for the 256gb.

On top of that I don't see any reason you should be buying one now with haswell coming out in 2 months time.

Ok, ok. Intel good, AMD good.
