Buying a pre built computer VS. Building one

Mostly I wanna ask about the price difference for specs,is it really a lot?

I don't want to go through the troubles of building one if it isn't really that much as I don't think I need a very good PC as i'll be playing some steam games mostly.

Trying to keep my budget as low as possible,bought my previous computer from challenger maybe 3-4 years ago at 1k.

Oem pc cheaper overall but parts are inferior. Better Oem like Asus is a tad more expensive but reliable. Diy overall cost may be a tad more than Oem, but generally you get better parts.

It's the premium we pay for the brand name and convenience when it comes to technical support. Also, maybe OEM pc casings look better?

I think it goes like this, for your case where you want to get a simple pc to surf net, those entry level pc or laptop cheaper than diy. But if you want an Oem gaming pc, usually Oem is much more expensive.

So for pc to surf net, Oem pc or laptop are cheaper. For gaming pc, diy is cheaper.

Finally, after more than 10 years (using laptop) since my last DIY, bought these parts to build a budget desktop this early afternoon at Tradepac, not much crowd....

The above for $320

Sharkoon MS120 + Superflower 500W ($147, Mynextcom)

Just completed hardware installation, follow by OS tomorrow, hopefully not much issue...

I personally thinks that DIY pc are better for amateur and above. People who know basic PC diagnostic, hardware compatibility,where to RMA faulty hardware and sell their unwanted PC hardware.

I only recommend people that are totally clues about computer stuff to go for DIY PC when they have friends, relative or anyone that they can approach easily for help.

Back to your budget.
$1.5k with monitor is enough for most of the games at mid setting with decent frame rate if you are not picky with graphics.
