I am thinking of buying a smartphone for my elder parents running on Android.

Can anyone please advise the following:
1. What brand and model is good and cheap that is running on Android?
2. What App should I install so that the GUI will become simpler for the elderly to navigate, typically they will use Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat and Facebook.

Many thanks.

Buy a Xiaomi redmi2 enhanced phone ( about 170$ or any xiaomi model that u like.. they are all around the same price range).

Install the apps like any normal android phone... and switch the phone to Lite mode.

depends..

i guess it all depends on your budget and your elderly parents; needs.
some elderly basically use on to dial and call, or most with sms-ing. for those not going to be using app i guess a simple smartphone even cheaper than XiaoMi Redmi can do fine too.

Worried about the UI? Google play app store has many elderly friendly UI for simple UI, large fonts etc too.
