Plan to get a xiaomi note 2. Notice it's called redmi here in sg, only brand difference? no difference in spec?

It's much cheaper in china too, just considering buying one over there. Heard there are ways to install google store on phone, other than that i will 'lose' one year warranty. Any other things to be aware of?

Thanks:D

Hello!

Do check the telco bands that the China Domestic Market Note 2s are able to support before making a purchase, as telcos in Singapore do not support TDD-LTE bands.

xiaomi is the brand
redmi is the phone model

the latest model is redmi note 3
as opposed to redmi note 2 on mi.sg

I would forsake the warranty and ship a note3 directly from China.

if buying redmi note 2, better to get from singapore, since it is available

china 双网通版 version is 899rmb, about S$200 [but you still have to add shipping cost]
singapore selling at S$229

more worth it to buy from xiaomi singapore, as local warranty
also, don't need to install google play separately
sometimes there are also default china apps in china version which cannot be removed, unless you root the device

if you really want to buy from china, make sure you don't buy the 移动版 version; that version not compatible with singapore phone network

for the recent Xiaomi phone models, the network supports 移动版 and 联通版 aka. 双网通(TDD/FDD-LTE)

the good thing about rmn2, battery can be swapped; xiaomi china currently not selling spare batteries, but can consider 3rd party batteries from reputable companies like pisen

Not for Redmi Note 2. There is 2 version. But not sure how to actually check it.
Ok, so Note 2 is an exception.
The TD-LTE Note 2 sells at RMB799.
The FDD/TDD-LTE Note 2 has two variant, Non-enhanced and Enhanced. The enhanced has a 2.2GHz MTK Helio X10, 32GB+2GB, while the non-enhanced has a 2.0GHz MTK Helio X10, 16GB+2GB memory combi.

I would not spend so much on Xiaomi product as they do not has any value after using it 1 or 2 years.

That's true!

Sometimes the heart wants (to get it to try) but the mind eventually takes over and says no :(

Have tried 3 China makes - Oppo Find 7A and 7 (which has excellent customer service), Redmi (which is surprisingly still working well after nearly 2 years), and Huawei (with the Honor 6 - OP specs for a phone released a year+ back)

The Redmi and Huawei have low trade in values :( while Oppo still holds a pretty good telco trade in value.

Any android phone got no resale value after 2-3 years. If you want get iphone better

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI NOTE 3 using GAGT

If you count resale does iphone fetch you a net loss of 169 dollars after 1 year?
If not even if I buy a cheap phone that cost 169 I still lose less compare to buying a 1k becos 169 is the full amount I paid.
I can't loose more than 169
