Hi guys, preparing to short list some parts for a new rig as skylake will be released shortly. Is it worth buying the ram online(16GB specifically) since it is much cheaper there and any recommendation on a good brand/model? Thanks!

I bought mine from Amazon and no issues.

Believe all the major brands like Gskill/Crucial/Corsair are fine. Just make sure that you buy a kit for the amount of memory you want and worth to double check the compatibility list from the Mobo manufacturer.

If you go to higher speeds like 3000Mhz do not believe the marketing as it is not always plug and play with XMP. It can take a lot of tweaking and you can just lose the silicon lottery in having a CPU with a poor memory controller.

Im leaning towards GSkill which is only available in newegg. Given my budget of $200 for 16Gb ram, should I just get the dual channel kit or the quad channel kit that comes with choices of higher speed?
