For my scenario 1, why would I opt for dereg of a 2year-old Mazda3? Wouldnt selling it get me more $? A check on a 2013 Mazda 3 in sgcarmart is $90k. Even if account for dealer's profit, it should get me $85k. This is more than deregistering it.

you are right. it is not worth deregistering a 2 year old car.

but remember should the coe drop by 10k, it is likely the price of a 2year old car will drop as well.

a 2 year old mazda 3 would probably cost 82k and you would probably be getting 77k if you sell it to the dealer.

you will get 25k more if you sell your car to the dealer.

even with that, the cost for 12 years is 125k. it is still more expensive that the other two options.

but you get the utility of driving a new mazda 3 twice in that 12 year period.
