Buying PC from Taobao

Hi all, if i buy a pc from china that also powers with 220v psu. Can i just buy a 3 pin cable to connect to the psu and use the pc in Singapore?

Using the existing or any BS 1363 3pins plug power cable. Be cautious of using PSU bought from taobao, most of them are sub standard quality.

Change a better powersupply , they sell very cheap for cosair psu.

Using power supply from unknown MIC source is always a risk. What about using the default power adapter from a "well known" precision weight machine with RS232 feedback?

A client call and told me one of the weighting machine failed to power up. I went there and took it back to my office. Open up the unit and saw this:

The power supply and charging board (lead acid battery) fried. Was wondering what the hell happened and why the PCB fired and destroyed the tracing as well, not a simple short circuit IMHO. Further investigation and finally discover the real culprit. The default 9v DC adapter some how short circuit and output 15V. Open up the unit and left speechless:

Incoming AC 230V feed directly into the transformer without going through a PP film capacitor. The output (measured AC 11v) feed into the 4 diode rectifier and filtered with a 470uf 15v capacitor, that's it. No output voltage regulator, zener diode etc...

Tagging on on this thread, has anyone here bought a desktop from Taobao, and would like to share their experience? Seeing the low prices there, I am thinking of purchasing a pre-built SFF desktop but I am not sure if I should due to the uncertainties when it comes to the shipping and the components.

Based on 6 years of experiences buying stuffs from taobao/tmall, absolutely not confident in them handling fragile items like HDD and any glassware.

The chances of getting a DOA HDD in the system is over 90%.
