Requirements:
2 set of PCs including monitors, to be used for running MS office and professional accounting software. Prefer Windows 7. Looking at least i5 and 4GB RAM. Prefer to have at 1 year onsite servicing if PCs break down.

Any recommended vendor or brands to look out for? (Dont quite like HN, BEST, Courts, as they are expensive yet dont give genuine advice. Might end up buying a lemon set also.)

DIY is out of the question as I don't want to become the onsite technician later.

You want onsite support yet you rejected dell. That will be tough. You prefer to avoid the mainstream retail outlets, that will be tougher.

Once I saw "on-site support" required straightaway Dell comes to mind. Don't think you have much other choice. As correctly pointed out forget about superstores for tech support, you'll just be ding-donged back & forth to the manufacturer's service lines (lame).

I've had good experience with HP and their home support. Very prompt - they even sent down 2 guys (software + hardware engineers) to my home to diagnose my laptop a few years ago.

I absolutely HATE their sales model, but I can't fault their support.

The problem is, most branded pcs are sold in such superstores. If ts wish to avoid superstores, he is cutting down his options.

Support wise just get back to manufacturer will do. Why need to refer to stores? Same like buying appliances. If i buy samsung tv from courts, why do i need to call courts when it breaks down? Just call samsung will do.

If you want good support. Ask your company IT to quote you business series workstation.

Can request for 4hr support on site. But the price different alot la.

Now I may have another option. If diy, someone can send down to repair. But then will shop charge for servicing if spoil within 1 yr? Wait they ask me take out the spoil part refer to manufacturer then I am back to square one.

Think if PC is for specialised needs better to get from a proper vendor who configure and build the PC according to your needs and offers a service contract. I don't know about here but when I was overseas we got our PCs from them and any problem they will come down to fix within one working day
Business needs are different from home needs. Unless your office has an IT support dept.

If you are looking for onsite support, there is nothing come close to Dell.

But always take note that as it is more for business, have your coy people to engage instead of buying yourself.

And good thing when a business enterprise buys from them, they have many options on what to do. They can even help you do some IP supports and on what your business requires.

HP i would not recommend as they arent fast in their jobs. My coy HP PCs that are faulty would take them at least 3 working days before they arrived and troubleshoot.

Usually for PC and laptop users only buy standard next business day support. If no part also have to LL wait.

DIY of course you remove the part for rma to the distro yourself. Depends on the equipment warranty, some 1 year some 3 years.

Just buy Branded.

Than you calculate your equipment depreciation value. After 3 years can start to buy for replacement.

For on site support and business PCs, think you can only go for

HP and Dell.

But make sure you purchase business model and not home model.

The after sales support for Business model are much better as compared to home model.

My company using Both HP and Dell. I prefer Dell support when logging case. They don't asked you do much and will sent a engineer down. once you tell them the problem. Repair wise their parts not as good as HP. Dell can come in with a DOA parts, happen a twice. Took them 3 trip to fix the motherboard issue. (happen to me twice)

HP would go via SOP, can you do this, can you do that, can you try updating the bios, before sending engineer down. But normally they resolved the problem on 1st visit.
