buying pcb etching agent?

Interesting.. PCB etching chemicals are controlled in Singapore as far as I am aware.

Normal is Iron Chloride.. Never heard of Sodium Persulfate being used for it.

Looking at the MSDS for this looks like a highly reactive and toxic chemical. I would advice not to order this. This should not be shipped in cheap plastic packets like shown in link.

Becareful using iron chloride. Its corrosive to metals.

Btw, I think you might have some challenges. Cause it imvolves SMD and a chip. ITs very hard to solder using a solder iron.

Well unless you actually have to make your own PCB why don't you get a PCB made by a fab lab. Loads of companies are there and it doesn't cost a lot. Saves the hassle and you get a very good product.

PCBway is super cheap. 10 dollars for 10 PCBs 2 layers. 100mm x 100mm size.

The project looks very simple. You already have the fritzing file should a matter of upload and order.

Have you considered using PCB fabricating services?
Or are there any reasons why you prefer to do the etching urself?

I use seeedstudio's fusion PCB service, USD9.90 (Not including shipping) for 10 pieces of100mm x 100mm, 2 signal layers, 1 oz board. Better quality more expensive. Taobao have other fabricating services too\

Yes like what other users have said, the size of SMD is very small, i solder using a microscope. Impt to have good soldering iron and fine solder. Or can use Reflow heat gun

Not really difficult to solder SMT capacitor and resistor.

I have no problem soldering MAX232EIDW in 16-Pin SOIC package along with many 0603 SMT components. Occasionally, solder 0402 SMT too.Use dia. 0.3 to 0.5mm (max.) soldering wire, don't use those larger 1.0mm wire.
