Actually rail is still faster as there's no jam. Bangkok traffic is super jam one.

Time taken for rail to reach destination definitely faster. Price per trip also much much cheaper.

If family OK, it's still wiser to take rail.

Rail to Ratcharaprop is around 30-40mins if I rem correctly. But just note: Due to the rough road surface, ur luggage wheels might be at risk , try to use pavement path to protect to/fro from Ratcharaprop station.

the pavement is quite rocky ... after that, we no longer take airport rail if we r staying pratunam ...

Their airport rail, if u didnt managed to get a seat from the airport station, most likely u wont get a seat. most people would alight at makKasan area onwards ...

no seat for you if u queuing behind ...
price is 45b one way per person
if 4 pax is 180b ...
take cab probably 400b to pratunam area ...

one person pay $2.40 more , u can sit comfortably on the cab ...
rather than queuing up for the train, wait for the train to come
train arrives, might not get a seat, have to stand for 30+minutes
reached rajprarop station, have to drag your luggage to find your hotel ...

But take it as a lesson learnt

I took from DMK Airport to Chong Nonsi.

I book from DMK airport taxi counter charge $800 and need pay $100 pass thru security gate city.

I feel kena chop carrot and scare kena murder there since already pay...

Brudder we need to guess which hotel you staying at arh ? Day time or night time take got no diff, night time will have jam nia. If you can just take mrt to the nearest station then cab from there.

Depending on your hotel ... how many ppl ,whether can fit into the normal taxi or not ....
klook airport transfer alot of restrictions.
Their cheapest is $27 , not really very cheap for a standard car ...

klook terms:
Standard Car (Toyota Camry): 3 Passengers + 3 Pieces of standard luggage
Standard MPV (Toyota Fortuner): 4 Passengers + 4 Pieces of standard luggage
Standard Van (Toyota Commuter): 10 Passengers + 5 Pieces of standard luggage
The number of passengers and amount of standard luggage should be no more than 6 for car, no more than 15 for van
Standard luggage size is 24". Luggage over 28" will be considered 2 pieces

Suvarnabhumi to Pratunam total cost should be around 400+Baht.

Normally if u book drivers that people recommend on tripAdvisor.
some of them charge 700b for toyota innova ...
the bigger cab ... quite worth ...

If 7 person, you can split into 2 cab or take a van ...
why not email them to get a quotation ...

not really. normally would take innova car not van
you might want to consider taking 2 taxi
or going to tripadvisor and contacting those people who provide airport transfer.
email or fb or whatsapp them to get a better pricing ...

normally they charge 700b one way inclusive of tolls for toyota innova

For phuket, at least there would be "drivers" walking around the airport, to ask if you wanna take their car @ 700 to 800b one way ...

don't queue - Use grab....a lot of cars waiting outside the airport. Just need to go up first level where the normal cars drop off and pick up

I play hide and seek with grab driver, worse he cant speak English or msg readable English. End up I take taxi at departure hall, even cheaper than grab lol.
