Just to confirm that if the carry in baggage wt is 7kg or checking in 20kg,
does it mean including the luggage weight?
So if the 20" cabin luggage weight 3kg, only left with 4kg of stuffs?
Same to 28" weight 4kg, only left with 16kg iof stuffs?
Thanks.

They weigh the whole thing, not just the contents of your luggage.

I thought the weight of the cabin luggage and check-in luggage are not combined.

Some airlines never bother to weigh carryon but some are super strict.

Airlines i have taken but never weighed or even looked at my carryon
Korean, ana, eva, sq, asiana, United, alaska

Heard that lufthansa is very strict.

Do note that UA does check for domestic flights, as most non-elite flyers will not get free checked baggage allowance, so they like to bring as big as possible up to the plane and most of these planes are narrowbodies, with very limited overhead space. So they do check the carry on bags, more for size than for weight.

Both Eva and SQ weighed my carry on at SFO but SQ never did it in Singapore.

US based airlines never weight carry on. What you are talking about is to check if the carry on fits into sizer for the specific dimensions. How much it will weight nobody cares.

from my understanding, full fledged airline normally is 7kg hand carry
be it sq, cathay, etc
budget airline:
scoot tiger gives 10kg
jetstar airasia gives 7kg

Uh, not too sure why you guys are thinking that full-service carriers are typically only allocating 7kg for Economy passengers in terms of carry-on weight limits, but well-known airline companies such as All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines have been giving 10kg in terms of carry-on baggage weight limits for quite awhile already for their Economy passengers.

My carry-on baggage experience is largely the same as moderator Hisashiburi with regards to full-service carriers such as ANA, JAL and SQ. Their on-site counter check-in staffs do not question me or weigh my carry-on baggages/hand-carry shopping bags even when there's quite abit of stuffs. This is mostly for my flights involving departures to/returning flights from Japan (NRT/HND) and Australia (SYD) airports, can't speak for other airports so your mileage may vary.
