UOB One card for instance if u play with their rebate calculator can get about $700+ a year for 1k spending/mth

trying to minmax miles is not my cup of tea, but if there are some easy to follow approaches, I don't mind using them. Every year I earn miles on SQ/Scoot flights but the miles earned not enough to redeem ticket. If I can earn some miles with credit card to combine with these miles to redeem air ticket, to me its better than wasting those miles....

by the way, I Just saw in my feed that Sethisfy just posted a video about how he transferred 1,000,000 miles. I don't understand why people would want to accumulate 1,000,000 miles though... they don't earn interest and actually depreciate....

Big ticket items i assume are electrical appliances, electronics and mattresses etc.?

Shop at merchants that accept kris+ such as harvey norman, audio house etc.

Then pay with uob kf for uncapped 3 mpd

Other 4mpd cards hard to use for big ticket item cos most capped at 1k per month

If wanna collect miles, it's a trade off against best price

If you have a 4mpd card, that means $10,800 spending on qualifying categories can get you one return tix to Japan.

That's not bad, but you commit yourself to travelling on Singapore Airlines/Scoot, and need to fight with the thousands of other people collecting miles for a limited number of redemption seats.

And you need to pay $26.75 per card to transfer your miles to SQ, and around $60 in airport taxes (more for roundtrip).

And that’s not bad. A 1.7% cash rebate card (such as MariBank’s) would yield about $184 in the alternative. If you’d ordinarily pay cash for a return air ticket to Tokyo, that’s about double the price (ZipAir, nonstop, random dates next month). In this situation you’re better off with the miles/points card. (Unless the card’s annual fee in unavoidable and kills the deal?)

If you can plan ahead of time is ok ma.

and some ppl just prefer certain airlines.

also is not like you die die need to redeem your miles.

You make it sound like Singapore airlines and scoot are bad airlines. They are the best in the industry, dude.

You also can redeem for other miles program like Cathay Pacific Asiamiles, you are not limited to only Singapore airline.

Annual time to fly sale again. Because I already redeemed 3 tix at the Global redemption sale, only bought 1 biz tix to Australia at this sale. SQ+credit card total miles earnt = 25,000.

Once my bonus Krisflyer credit card miles are credited in January, I should have enough to redeem 2 more tix for year end holiday.

Total holidays in 2026: 6
Number of tix bought with cash: 1
Number of tix redeemed with miles: 3 + 2 (planned) = 5

Only downside with buying tix with miles is that I'm not earning enough elite miles to get Krisflyer Gold.

yea. but not like can accumulate so many miles and just purely fly based on redemption anyway? so is a non issue?

There are a lot of 4mpd card but I believe there is some cap and some restrictions etc. The big whales in some groups uses OCBC voyage and hsbc is premier or standard chartered visa infinite. All I believe is $1 to 1.2 miles or so but no limit

there's no need to believe or guess. all the facts are on the milelion website

main issue is whether you want to use a simpler 2 card strategy or 3+ card strategy to really min-max. I am sticking with using 2 cards only as its simpler.

Depends where u going…..no suitable timings sometimes.

Mile redemption are difficult on some popular routes and need to book early. Some routes like going to China are easy to get biz redemption, I have been flying to/fro Beijing/Shanghai on SQ Biz. Cathay is also good if you want to travel to exotic china cities like Urumqi. I use 3 programmes which give me flexibility. Even you spend 5k a month on 4MPD cards also get 240k miles a year which is not enough for biz class for my family. I frequently look for sign up bonus etc to clock more miles, don't have enough to spend so never have to worry about no flights to redeem, constantly in the not enough miles situation anyway.
