They have the information of our asset in the bank.

Depending on what they are selling, they will have a certain profile in mind and there they go.

Is just a cold calling. In fact most of the time they do not know who you are. example, asking a student to go for a loan who do not have income at all.

My suggestion, turn them down, or ask for a call back number making sure they are really from bank before you release any private information.

On the phone, is very hard to know/identify the people who call. So be very careful.

Usually , it is what you say. COLD CALL.
which means they dont have any idea who you are and how much you are holding.
It is just another number in their database to call to make the sales for that particular product.

If you want to know about the target demographics and how banker call.. then I have to ask you whether you have been invited to any Luncheon by your banker or GOLF invitation or ARTS performance by your banker.

Thought banks outsource this to telemarketers and they just do blanket bombing.

That's the trick and need of using telemarketers. In this case bank claim no responsibility. That happen to BOC case I know off. So be very careful with this type of call.

Once you release your details. The whole world will know about it. Keep in mind, when they first call, they know nothing about you. Many times, not even your name.

i believe the 'cold' call is a mixed. some are from third party telemarketers selling credit cards and loans.

some are from personal banker whom you may not even know. try idling 100k in saving account or suddenly doing interbank transfer of 100k and see if you attract their attention. do share with us your findings
