Camera to buy

Want to learn taking photography but unsure on which model to get.

Any advise?

1) Sony DSC-HX300 or the earlier version DSC-HX200
2)Canon Powershot SX50 HS or the G series

All ok, all have manual controls. But I would recommend the RX100 as well.

RX100 is definitely more than enough. It seems to be going for about $730 brand new after RX100 Mk2's release. This should be able to last you a good year or so as its IQ seems to be near that of the Nex cameras with kit lenses.

RX100 focusing is very fast. I wish it has longer reach but the 20MP allows you to crop so you can cheat a little.
