Grab is readily available in Ipoh town, but getting a Grab back to town from further locations may pose a problem. I recall there is Grab service in the Cameron Highlands.

Thanks guys, i arranged a private hire to drive us from Ipoh to Cameron (and back 2 days later). RM 300 per trip. Is this reasonably priced?

Then in Ipoh and Cameron, I try to use Grab to get around the area.

May as well book driver for your whole Cameron trip, can cover more places. Cameron is too ulu, even if there is Grab, the number should be small. Alot of time wasting.

Now at cameron highlands. Stay at strawberry hotel resort up a hill. The tour agent in hotel told us dont rely on grab service. It is really heng suay . We tried grab to tanah rata and no pick up. Hotel can call taxi and it is fixed price type 25 ring to go out from hotel and 20 ring back from tana rata.

If rate is fixed at the beginning, does it mean it’s the same taxi driver to pick you up at Tana Rata too?

cameron highlands grab is like 5% chance nia..
Most time you can get the hotel to help you call taxi..
They are fix rate.. Than you can arrange with the taxi there after like when u wanna go where or go back.. than talk about the rate 1st.. They are ok to pick u up back etc.. the taxi driver there usually have their own network of drivers.. if they cant pick u back up, they can get their network driver to pick u.

Is it difficult to get Taxi at Cameron?

Thinking of rent a car and driving up but scare traffic jam.

Considering option of private hire vehicle to CAmeron from Ipoh but also concern of not able to get Taxi from point to point. Anyone can share rate of hire vehicle at Cameron for whole day?

most people will self drive, or if taking coach, can book local 1 day or 2 day tours at various hotel lobbies

traffic jam is inevitable but thats always due to everyone going to the same place/ carpark at Kea farm or pasar maam

I advise you to self-drive due to the scarcity of private hire or taxis. There are many options to rent a vehicle from Ipoh. This gives you the flexibility to drive between point A & point B at your own leisure in the highlands. You will have to be confident in your driving skills to handle hilly and curvy roads. Driving your own vehicle also gives you the possibility to visit Taiping if you have time.

I used Wahdah several times to rent cars in Malaysia, and you can try it too. Nothing great in the way of food in the Cameron Highlands, I found. Ipoh has lots of great food choices you can look up any guide. The beansprout chicken rice and dim sum (Jln Leong Sin Nam) were great. Chinese biscuits and baked products are great. Hawker stalls along Jln Carey open from the afternoon.

Sorry to hijack this thread, is Cameron Highlands worth going?

Thinking of flying into Ipoh(?), rent a car and head to CH next week (from Wed to Sun) to just relax

It is worthwile. I will go a second time to re-visit the tea plantations and fresh produce farms. In your case, you will be visiting the Highlands as part of an Ipoh trip, which makes a lot of sense.
