hi all, it been awhile I build a rig. been using laptop most of the time.
decided to get 1 for my boi for gaming and for me video and photo editing.

CPU: intel i7 770k
MOBO: Asus H110M-A M.2
Ram: 2x 8GB
Storage: WD 1TB
OS: Win 10 64bits
Graphic card: MSI GTX 1060 Gaming 6GB
Power supply: 400w enough?

could the expert advise is any of the parts overkill or not able to fully utilize the performance?

Don't skimp on power supply! Safety of all your component lie on it!

If you can make do with 120gb ssd, then go ahead.

H110 board don't support 2400 mhz. Max 2133 mhz. If you want aesthetic, go corsair vengeance lpx 2133 mhz ram.

GPU is fine if you don't mind the slight premium price for sjs model

as for the SSD & Ram, PSU and Case combo, I came across the bundle price and I thought I could save on that.

Superflower is one of the top brand psu. Plus it's 80+ Silver rated efficiency compared to cm elite 75% efficiency. Don't skimp on psu. If possible go for gold rated is even better.

RAM and SSD combo is still fine provided 120gb is enough for you. Ram will be under utilized to be honest as the motherboard only run it at 2133mhz at max even if you put a 3200mhz ram in it. Plus your mobo only have 2 DIMM slot. Occupying both with 8gb ram will limit your upgrade in future. Hence I initially suggested 1x 16gb ram. If you ever needed more, you could still add.

Up to you, whether the savings is justified or not. This is my two cents.

7700k with h110 is a plausible choice. 7700k guarantees turbo to close to 4.5ghz regardless of motherboard and with tdp of 95w. If u wanna overclock, most 7700k reach around 4.8ghz liddat, and thats with good cooling.

Whether it is worth to spend so much more on mobo and cooling for 10% increase in performance is up to you. If like in the past 2500k can OC by over 1ghz then more worth it imho.

No need to buy k part cause of "base clock" guarantee. All mobo manufacturers have Multicore Enhancement / Acceleration enabled in BIOS by default.

It will boost to boost clock all the time unless power limited. Especially by skylake, you can see your CPU running at boost clocks all the time unless your loads are super punishing.

I feel like TS is abit confused by the nomenclature of some components out there.

Will just repeat for once. MultiCore Acceleration/Enhancement (BIOS feature) will automatically put the processor on its maximum boost clock all the time unless you're hitting a wall with temperatures or power draw.

I was able to get MCE (default enabled) working reliably on a fairly early MSI B150M BIOS last year with an i5-6500 as well. I don't suppose any sort of voodoo will disable this in a more mature BIOS revision.

Therefore the idea of getting a K skew i7 should not be an option unless you're getting a Z board.

Some here are giving decent advise for priceerformance ratio options, hope TS sees them.
